Senior Backend Engineer – Agentic Systems

We're looking for a Senior Backend / Platform Engineer to join an AI-first digital consultancy that helps large enterprises deploy agentic AI solutions across Europe. You'll build the core backend platform and orchestration layer that lets the company's Forward Deployed Engineers ship secure, reliable and reusable AI workflows to customers. If you've taken LLM or agentic features into production and enjoy the hard parts (orchestration, tool calling, state, observability, integrations), this role is for you.

What you'll do

• Design and build the backend platform and orchestration layer for agentic AI solutions
• Create scalable, asynchronous, queue-based systems in Python and/or TypeScript
• Implement LLM and agent patterns: tool calling, orchestration, state management
• Build enterprise integrations (OAuth, webhooks, REST APIs, SDKs) and data ingestion/normalisation pipelines
• Set up observability and evaluation for AI workloads: latency, cost, trace capture
• Enable Forward Deployed Engineers to reuse secure, reliable building blocks for customer projects

Must have

• 4–6 years in backend engineering, platform engineering or distributed systems
• Strong hands-on Python and/or TypeScript
• Practical production experience with LLM or agentic applications (tool calling, orchestration, state management)
• Experience with enterprise integrations: OAuth, webhooks, REST APIs, SDKs, data pipelines
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
• Based in the EU, available on a B2B basis

Nice to have

• Additional European languages beyond English
• Deep experience with enterprise integrations at scale
