Middle Strong/Senior Backend Developer (Java)
Blackthorn Vision is seeking a Middle Strong/Senior Backend Developer (Java) for an outstaff project with a global leader in energy technology. Founded in 1926 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, the company has 100,000 employees serving customers in more than 120 countries and develops software solutions for automation across the energy and industrial sectors.
You will work as part of an international team, collaborating with Blackthorn Vision specialists, client-side engineers, and management. We are looking for a self-driven team player with strong problem-solving skills, a commitment to quality, and a passion for delivering robust and maintainable software solutions. Upper-Intermediate English or higher is required for effective day-to-day communication. The position follows a regular full-time working schedule aligned with the Ukrainian time zone.
In this role, you will build and support backend services that process operational and time-series data and deliver reliable APIs and event-driven solutions. You will work with technologies such as Kafka, Azure IoT Hub, RabbitMQ, Redis, Kubernetes, and Microsoft Azure to develop high-performance, resilient, and scalable applications.
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
- Basic experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Experience with Microservices Architecture, Event-Driven Architecture, and REST APIs.
- Strong understanding of system architecture and business requirements.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka and RabbitMQ.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Redis, or similar relational/NoSQL databases.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure, and Azure IoT Hub.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and modern observability tools.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Cursor, or similar.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Nice to have:
- Experience working with operational and time-series data.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
