Java Backend Developer
NovaCore is looking for a Java Backend Developer to join an upcoming FinTech project. We are looking for an engineer who can build secure backend services, design reliable APIs, and work with transaction-heavy distributed systems.
Project
The project is a FinTech platform that helps businesses manage customer accounts, payment transactions, refunds, settlements, and financial reporting. The backend consists of Java and Spring Boot services responsible for transaction processing, payment-provider integrations, authentication, audit logging, and fraud-prevention workflows. Asynchronous financial events are processed through message brokers, while PostgreSQL and Redis are used for persistent storage, caching, and transaction state management. The team is currently improving system reliability, introducing additional payment methods, and optimizing transaction processing under increased load.
Requirements
- 2+ years of commercial Java development experience.
- Strong knowledge of Java Core and modern Java versions.
- Practical experience with Spring Boot and Spring Framework.
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs.
- Good knowledge of Spring Data JPA and Hibernate.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or another relational database.
- Understanding of database transactions, isolation levels, and data consistency.
- Knowledge of OOP, SOLID principles, and common design patterns.
- Experience with Maven or Gradle.
- Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
English level B1+.
Nice to have
- Experience in FinTech, banking, payment systems, or billing platforms.
- Knowledge of Spring Security, OAuth 2.0, and JWT.
- Experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Understanding of idempotency and distributed transaction patterns.
- Experience with Redis and distributed caching.
- Familiarity with microservice and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
- Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers, and integration testing.
Familiarity with PCI DSS or financial-data security practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Implement payment, transaction, refund, and settlement workflows.
- Design secure and maintainable REST APIs.
- Integrate external payment gateways and financial providers.
- Develop asynchronous workflows using message brokers.
- Ensure consistency and idempotency of financial operations.
- Optimize database queries and backend performance.
- Write unit, integration, and API tests.
- Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.
- Investigate production incidents and improve system reliability.
- Maintain technical documentation and communicate progress proactively.
