QA Automation Engineer
About NaoCan
NaoCan Data Inc. builds visual, automation-driven software that collects data from both static and dynamic websites. Our point-and-click platform mimics real human interaction to extract web data at scale, even from Ajax- and JavaScript-heavy pages—and exports it in whatever format teams need (CSV, Excel, HTML, TXT, or straight into MySQL, SQL Server, and Oracle). Our cloud service powers large-scale extraction and storage for demanding, high-volume workloads.
We're hiring a talented and experienced QA Automation Engineer who pairs deep automation skills with Upper C1 level English to help us raise the quality bar across our platform, products, and internal operations. In this role you'll build and own automated testing frameworks, verify that our features behave as intended, expand test coverage, and translate quality risks, defects, results, and release readiness into clear language for engineering, product, and business partners. Working side by side with cross-functional teammates in English, you'll help clarify requirements, break down technical problems into plain business terms, keep releases stable, cut manual effort, and speed up how quickly we ship dependable software.
What You'll Do
As our QA Automation Engineer, your day-to-day will include:
- Building Test Automation: Create and maintain automated scripts and frameworks that cover web apps, APIs, backend services, and data-driven workflows.
- Shaping Test Strategy: Turn product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and business priorities into practical test plans, cases, and strategies.
- Functional & Regression Coverage: Run automated functional, regression, smoke, integration, and end-to-end suites so the product stays stable release after release.
- API Validation: Exercise REST APIs and backend services with tools like Postman, REST Assured, Playwright API testing, or comparable frameworks.
- UI Automation: Develop and maintain UI test suites using Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar tooling.
- Pipeline Integration: Wire automated tests into CI/CD pipelines via Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or equivalent platforms.
- Defect Handling: Find, log, track, and confirm fixes for software defects using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar trackers.
- Cross-Team Partnership: Collaborate with developers, product managers, business analysts, and fellow QA engineers to align coverage with real business needs.
- Closing Coverage Gaps: Spot weak spots in current testing and steadily grow automation scope, reliability, and execution speed.
- Data Verification: Use SQL to validate data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across systems.
- Performance Support: Pitch in on basic performance, load, and reliability checks to surface bottlenecks and quality risks when needed.
- Reporting: Produce clear test reports, defect summaries, release-quality updates, and documentation for both technical and non-technical readers.
- Optimizing Automation: Cut down flaky tests, boost reusability, and apply solid test-design practices to existing scripts.
- Championing Quality: Foster a quality-first culture and continuously sharpen QA processes, release readiness, and delivery standards.
What You Bring
We're looking for someone with:
- Communication: Strong communication skills, and specifically fluent spoken English at an Upper C1 level—non-negotiable for explaining test results, quality risks, and technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Track Record: Demonstrated experience as a QA Automation Engineer, Software Test Engineer, SDET, or similar, with real automation-testing work under your belt.
- Coding: Solid programming or scripting ability in one or more of Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C#.
- Automation Tooling: Practical experience with frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, TestNG, JUnit, PyTest, or comparable tools.
- API Testing: Hands-on REST API testing with Postman, REST Assured, Playwright, or similar.
- SQL: A good grasp of SQL for validating data, writing queries, and checking backend/database behavior.
- Testing Foundations: A strong command of testing concepts—functional, regression, integration, smoke, UAT, and end-to-end.
- CI/CD & Version Control: Experience embedding automated tests in CI/CD pipelines and working with Git.
- Agile Delivery: Comfort working in Agile or Scrum teams through sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, and release cycles.
- Defect & Test Management: Familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, Zephyr, or similar tools.
- Problem Solving: Sharp analytical instincts to debug test failures, trace root causes, and communicate findings clearly.
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous, quality-focused mindset that keeps software aligned with functional, business, and user-experience expectations.
Nice to Have
- Framework Design: Experience architecting reusable, scalable automation frameworks from the ground up.
- Cloud Experience: Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for testing cloud-hosted systems.
- Containers: Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized test setups.
- Performance Tools: Exposure to JMeter, k6, Gatling, or similar.
- Security Awareness: Basic understanding of security testing, authentication and authorization flows, and common web vulnerabilities.
- Mobile Automation: Experience with Appium or comparable mobile testing tools.
- Data-Heavy Testing: Background testing data pipelines, ETL workflows, reports, dashboards, or data-intensive apps.
- Test Analytics: Experience building dashboards to track coverage, pass rates, defect trends, and release quality.
- AI-Assisted Testing: Exposure to AI-driven test generation, self-healing tests, or intelligent automation.
- Business Sense: The ability to tie testing priorities to product quality, customer experience, and delivery timelines.
