UAV Design and Systems Engineer (SolidWorks, ArduPilot)

Our company specializes in the development and mass production of high-tech unmanned aerial systems in Ukraine. We are seeking a qualified UAV Design & Systems Engineer capable of developing robust structural hardware and integrating it effectively with avionics and control systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Design UAV airframes (fixed-wing, multirotor, and VTOL systems), mechanical assemblies, and manufacturing tooling utilizing SolidWorks or Autodesk Fusion.

Integrate avionics, payloads, communication systems, power supplies, and actuators into the airframe structure.

Perform structural strength (FEA) and aerodynamic (CFD) simulations to validate designs.

Configure control flight systems and actively participate in laboratory testing and field flight trials.

Author and maintain technical and engineering documentation.

Requirements:

Proven professional experience in aircraft or UAV structural design.

Proficiency in SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion, and Ansys Fluent (or equivalent CFD/FEA software suites).

Thorough understanding of the ArduPilot ecosystem (ArduPlane / ArduCopter) and Ground Control Stations (Mission Planner, QGroundControl).

Practical familiarity with hardware components: flight controllers (Pixhawk, Cube architectures), sensor integration (IMU, Pitot tubes), and standard protocols (PWM, CAN, UART, I2C).

Practical experience working with composite materials (carbon fiber, fiberglass) and additive manufacturing processes (3D printing).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience utilizing SITL/HITL simulation environments to validate aerodynamic and mechanical changes.

Ability to extract and analyze ArduPilot flight logs (.bin format) to optimize structural performance and address vibration issues.
