About the Role

As a Middle–Senior Java Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend services that power our lending platforms and internal systems. You will work closely with product, engineering, and infrastructure teams to deliver high-quality software while contributing to architecture decisions, system reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role is ideal for an experienced developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, writing clean and maintainable code, and working in a remote, international environment.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services using Java and Spring Framework.
• Build scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs and business services.
• Participate in system design, code reviews, and technical discussions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following software engineering best practices.
• Develop and maintain integrations with internal and external systems.
• Optimize application performance, database queries, and system reliability.
• Implement caching, monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.
• Support production deployments, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, QA Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and other developers throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Contribute to technical documentation, architecture improvements, and coding standards.
• Participate in Agile development processes, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
• Continuously improve code quality, development practices, and team efficiency.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong experience with Java 11+ and Spring Framework (Spring Boot, MVC, Data, Security).
• 4+ years of commercial Java development (Java 11+)
• OOP and SOLID principles — applied daily, not just understood theoretically
• Clean code and refactoring discipline — we improve the codebase, not just add to it
• TDD mindset: unit and integration tests are part of done, not an afterthought
• SQL and relational databases — writing, reviewing, optimising queries and schemas
• REST API integrations — consuming and exposing
• Caching strategies — Redis or equivalent, knowing when and why to apply them
• Data encryption basics — at rest and in transit
• Telemetry and observability — structured logs, metrics, basic alerting
• Git — branching, PR workflow, code review participation
• CI/CD basics — pipeline awareness, build and deploy cycle familiarity
• JVM fundamentals — threading model, memory management basics
• Linux comfort — reading logs, basic shell, deployment tasks

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, and load-balanced environments.
• Familiarity with message brokers, distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Kibana, or similar platforms.
• Previous experience in fintech, financial services, or high-availability production systems.
• Experience working in distributed international teams.
