Researcher Space Systems
We integrate automation, AI, and robotics to build solutions in the security and defense space. Our focus: intelligent systems that combine embedded software, computer vision, and edge-AI for autonomous platforms.
We're looking for a researcher with a space background to help chart the path for our systems into space. This is an R&D role: you'll investigate the constraints of the space environment, analyze architectural solutions for platforms, and build the technical foundation for decision-making. Ideally, you've already taken part in space projects or studied/worked at a relevant university or research institution.
What you'll do:
- Research the impact of the space environment on our stack;
- Analyze architectural solutions for adapting our systems to platforms;
- Conduct comparative analysis of existing space platforms and missions โ Earth observation, space domain awareness, orbital inspection, autonomous docking;
- Define technical requirements for adapting hardware and software to meet space standards;
- Assess commercial viability โ identify target market segments, market size, and the competitive landscape;
- Prepare a structured R&D report with technical conclusions, feasibility recommendations, and a roadmap for further research and development;
Work closely with the engineering team โ translating space-domain constraints into concrete technical requirements.
Skills & Experience
Required:
- Academic or professional background in space engineering, aerospace, or a related discipline;
- Understanding of space environment physics โ radiation effects (TID, SEE, displacement damage), thermal modeling, vacuum-induced material degradation;
- Knowledge of, or willingness to dig into, satellite system architecture โ payload, onboard computers, communication subsystems;
- Experience with sensors or optoelectronic systems โ understanding the limitations of cameras, optics, and detectors in extreme conditions;
- Systems analysis and scientific research skills โ the ability to independently structure research, work with scientific publications, and draw well-founded conclusions;
- Self-direction and the ability to deliver structured results with minimal oversight.
Nice to have:
- Hands-on involvement in a space project, CubeSat mission, or university/research-institution R&D program;
- Familiarity with ECSS standards (E-ST-10, E-ST-20, Q-ST-60) or NASA technical standards;
- Understanding of approaches to space component selection and qualification;
- Background in optics, multispectral/hyperspectral imaging, or lidar systems;
- Experience writing R&D reports or scientific publications.
What we offer:
- Autonomy: complete freedom to choose your research methodology, modeling tools, and analytical approaches.
- Close to engineering: you'll work alongside a team building real systems for autonomous platforms.
- A unique domain: a rare chance to work at the intersection of two cutting-edge fields.
- Remote work: fully remote, flexible schedule, with set hours for team sync.
- Growth: the role can evolve into a permanent R&D position.
- Mission: a direct contribution to Ukraine's defense capability and Europe's security resilience.
If this sounds like you โ don't wait, reach out today. We look forward to meeting you :)
