Systems Engineer / Technical Lead (UAV)

An international defense tech company is looking for a Senior/Lead Systems Engineer to take ownership of UAV product development and system architecture.

This is a high-ownership role combining systems engineering, product thinking, and hands-on work with UAV platforms. The engineer will work directly with the founder and international team, helping transform product ideas into working systems and scalable engineering processes.

The role includes both technical leadership and practical involvement in integration, testing, and product iteration.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve UAV system architecture (airframe, avionics, payload, comms)
• Translate field feedback and product needs into technical requirements
• Coordinate a small engineering team and subsystem integration
• Participate in testing, flight data analysis, and product iterations
• Contribute to R&D workflows and engineering processes

Requirements

• Experience with UAV, robotics, or complex hardware products
• Strong understanding of hardware + software integration
• Experience with PX4, ArduPilot, or similar flight control systems
• Experience delivering products from prototype to operational use
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers
• English above intermediate for communication with the international team

Nice to have

• RF/telemetry/video systems experience
• MAVLink or similar protocols
• Field testing experience
• Startup or build-from-zero experience

Work format

• Kyiv office (onsite)
• Business trips (field testing, interaction with users)
• Working schedule: 10:00–18:00
