Senior QA Automation Engineer (Java)

About the Position:
We are hiring a Senior QA Automation Engineer to serve as the quality and testing expert within a fast-paced platform engineering team, ensuring the reliability of API management systems and integration technologies.
Please note: We are currently considering candidates based in Eastern Europe only. Good Java proficiency is a strict requirement for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Define and drive the overall testing strategy aligned with platform architecture and integration needs.
- Mentor engineers on automation best practices and maintain high quality standards across all software layers.
- Collaborate with DevOps, Product, Engineering, and client-facing teams to continuously improve product quality.
- Design and maintain automated and manual test suites for APIs, data stores, and service mesh components.
- Build and optimize test frameworks and CI/CD pipelines for Kubernetes and microservices environments.
- Lead performance and load testing using JMeter, Gatling, or k6, and identify risks and coverage gaps proactively.
- Develop deep knowledge of the platform stack, including Java services, Envoy proxies, Valkey, and MongoDB/PostgreSQL.
Requirements:
- Based in Eastern Europe (mandatory).
- 5+ years in QA / SDET roles
- Strong Java skills (mandatory)
- Hands-on experience with API testing (REST, gRPC), including contract testing and mocking
- Proven track record in building automation frameworks for microservices
- Experience with Redis/Valkey, MongoDB, PostgreSQL
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized environments
- Solid understanding of the test automation pyramid
- Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling, k6)
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills
Agile/Scrum experience
