About the role

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you sit at the intersection of engineering and go-to-market. You're the technical owner of customer outcomes โ€” hands-on in the code, embedded in the customer relationship, and responsible for turning an edge intelligence platform into measurable performance wins for top ecommerce brands.

This is not a support role. You'll be debugging JavaScript in production, writing transform scripts, configuring caching rules, and troubleshooting complex CDN behavior across Shopify, SFCC, and custom storefronts. You'll own the full technical lifecycle from onboarding through optimization, working directly with merchant engineering teams and translating their stack into the platform.

About the product

This is a rapidly growing B2B SaaS product designed to help ecommerce brands drive conversion and performance. The platform uses smart caching and a globally distributed edge network to reduce latency, improve Core Web Vitals, and deliver measurable revenue uplift.

The Edge Delivery Engine accelerates ecommerce storefronts by serving fully cached pages from 310+ edge locations โ€” each within 50ms of most of the world's population. Rather than replacing a merchant's existing stack, it works alongside it: intercepting requests at the edge, serving pre-cached HTML at sub-200ms TTFB, and applying intelligent transform scripts to handle personalization, A/B tests, and session context without breaking existing functionality.

As an FDE, you'll configure caching rules, write and debug transform scripts, diagnose TTFB regressions, and optimize cache hit rates to drive measurable performance improvements.

What you'll do

  • Write, review, and debug transform scripts that modify storefront responses at the edge
  • Monitor customer trials and react quickly to issues or anomalies
  • Use browser DevTools and observability tools to diagnose caching issues, TTFB regressions, and personalization conflicts
  • Own the technical relationship with a portfolio of merchant accounts
  • Build internal tooling, documentation, and playbooks to scale operations
  • Provide product feedback based on real-world use cases

What we're looking for

  • 2โ€“5 years of experience in a technical customer-facing or engineering role (solutions engineering, forward deployed engineering, full stack, etc.)
  • Strong JavaScript skills (reading, writing, debugging in browser context)
  • Solid understanding of web fundamentals: HTTP, caching, CDNs, DNS, browser rendering
  • Experience with Shopify storefronts (Liquid, Hydrogen, headless) is a plus
  • Familiarity with enterprise ecommerce platforms is a bonus
  • Ability to work in production environments and troubleshoot under pressure
  • Strong communication skills

Nice to have

  • Experience with edge platforms (e.g., Cloudflare Workers)
  • Familiarity with A/B testing and experimentation tools
  • Experience with performance optimization (Core Web Vitals, LCP, TTFB)
  • Experience collaborating in Git-based environments
