Lead C++ Engineer

We are looking for a very senior hands-on C++ systems engineer to support a product engineering project related to cross-platform remote desktop client development.
The engagement may start with consulting and proposal design and continue with up to 6 months of engineering work.
Remote, part-time 

Requirements:

• 8+ years of C/C++ systems engineering experience
• Proven delivery of desktop client software across at least two platforms: Windows, Linux, or macOS
• Strong expertise in real-time communications, including WebRTC, RTP/RTCP, SRTP, ICE/TURN, and VoIP
• Hands-on experience with low-latency audio/video pipelines
• Background in remote display, virtualisation, VDI, or thin-client technologies
• Solid understanding of protocol and transport layers
• Experience integrating and customising open-source infrastructure
• Strong focus on performance optimization
• English: Upper-Intermediate 

Responsibilities

• Define the client architecture and technical roadmap
• Lead the development of an RDP-compatible client
• Design audio/video optimisation and redirection solutions
• Develop tunnelled VDI connectivity and endpoint device support
• Build PoCs for media delivery, conferencing, and session resilience
• Provide architectural guidance and conduct code reviews for the engineering team
