Tech Lead Backend Engineer

Munit.io is looking for a skilled and motivated tech lead/principal backend developer to join our growing remote team and help us build the future of cyber intelligence. We are seeking a dedicated backend developer who will take an integral role in shaping and scaling our backend infrastructure.

This role involves designing and implementing scalable backend architectures, integrating data sources, developing new features, refactoring code, optimizing system performance, and ensuring the stability, security, and maintainability of our platforms. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to enhance SAGA®, our flagship Digital Risk Protection solution.

You will work on our core product, SAGA®, which is an innovative Digital Risk Protection (DPR) platform engineered for organisations and individuals who are exposed to the risks of fraud, data theft, or cybercrime. SAGA® minimizes risk through continuous monitoring, analysis, and automated threat mitigation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services supporting the SAGA® platform
• Design and implement scalable data processing structures and integrations
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems to enhance reliability and performance
• Collaborate with front-end developers, analysts, and product owners to align system architecture with business needs
• Ensure system security, data integrity, and compliance with internal standards
• Document development processes, architectural decisions, and API specifications

• Write code and cover it with unit and integration tests

   

Job Requirements Must have:

• 5+ years of experience in SaaS development (with a focus on backend), Python, ElasticSearch, MySQL, and Redis
• Strong experience with CI/CD (Github actions is a plus), and k8s/docker
• Previous experience with Django/rest framework, Celery or RabbitMQ/AMQP
• Team player, proactive, well-structured, and organized—fearlessly embracing growth with sharp critical thinking.
• Taking ownership and relying on delivering things on time and with high quality
• Proficiency in English and good communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field

• Based in Europe, in the CET timezone between UTC-1 and UTC+3 (-2/+2 hours Copenhagen time), and willing to join our company events

   

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of best practices in security (SQL injection, secure authentication, and DDoS)
• Software architecture: experience with and understanding of different architectures. We use a hexagonal architecture
• Experience in automated testing

• Experience in security (OSINT) or similar regulated fields
