Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Shopify Developer to lead the design, development, and optimization of Shopify-based storefronts and headless commerce solutions. You will work across complex ecommerce ecosystems — integrating Shopify with modern JavaScript frameworks, third-party APIs, and ERP systems — while championing performance, accessibility, and scalability best practices.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain Shopify storefronts using Liquid, Shopify CLI, and Online Store 2.0 (OS2) theme architecture with sections, blocks, and metafields.
• Develop headless and composable commerce solutions using Shopify Hydrogen (Remix-based) and the Storefront API.
• Build custom Shopify apps (public and private) using Shopify App Bridge, Admin API, and Webhooks.
• Integrate Shopify with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP), CRM platforms, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers via REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Implement and maintain integrations with marketing tools including GA4 data layers, GTM, Klaviyo, Attentive, and Algolia search.
• Collaborate with designers to implement pixel-perfect, responsive, and accessible (WCAG 2.1) UI using modern CSS and React/TypeScript.
• Lead performance optimization initiatives — Core Web Vitals, lazy loading, image optimization, and CDN strategies.
• Conduct thorough code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior developers.
• Participate in the full SDLC: requirements gathering, architecture design, sprint planning, QA, deployment, and post-launch monitoring.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements using GitHub Actions or similar tooling.
• Stay current with Shopify platform changes, new APIs, and ecosystem updates.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with 3+ years focused on Shopify development.
• Expert-level proficiency in Shopify Liquid templating and Online Store 2.0 architecture (sections everywhere, blocks, metafields, metaobjects).
• Strong command of Shopify Plus features: Scripts (and migration to Shopify Functions), Launchpad, multi-currency/multi-language, B2B Commerce.
• Experience with headless Shopify development using Hydrogen (Remix) and the Storefront API (GraphQL).
• Proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and state management patterns (Zustand, Redux, or Context API).
• Solid understanding of Shopify's GraphQL Admin API and REST API; able to design and build custom Shopify apps.
• Experience with Shopify App Bridge 3.x for embedded app development.
• Familiarity with Shopify Functions (discount functions, payment customizations, delivery customizations) as the modern replacement for Scripts.
• Hands-on experience with version control (Git), code review workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong grasp of responsive design, CSS (including modern CSS Grid/Flexbox), and cross-browser compatibility.
• Experience integrating analytics tools: GA4 with data layers, Google Tag Manager, and server-side tracking.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; comfortable working with distributed/remote teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Shopify Markets for international commerce (multi-currency, multi-language, geolocation).
• Familiarity with Shopify's new B2B Commerce features and company/location-based pricing.
• Experience with Algolia InstantSearch integration on Shopify.
• Knowledge of Shopify Checkout Extensibility (checkout UI extensions, post-purchase extensions).
• Experience with Node.js or serverless functions for building Shopify app backends.
• Understanding of TDD/BDD methodologies and testing frameworks (Jest, Playwright, Cypress).
• Experience with performance monitoring tools (Lighthouse, SpeedCurve, Datadog RUM).
• Familiarity with Contentful, Sanity, or other headless CMS platforms integrated with Shopify.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and assistive technology testing.
