Community Manager - Hackathon and Ecosystems

About the role:
The Community Manager will be responsible for end-to-end management of hackathons and developer engagement initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of community building, partnerships, marketing, and event operations.
You will design compelling hackathon challenges, coordinate with sponsors and partners, recruit volunteers and mentors, support marketing campaigns, and ensure a world-class experience for participants.

Responsibilities:
- Hackathon Strategy & Program Design
Design and manage AI hackathons from concept to execution. Develop challenge statements aligned with sponsor technologies and real-world use cases, structure competition tracks, and define judging criteria, scoring frameworks, and prize structures. - Community Building & Engagement
Grow and manage a global developer and AI builder community. Engage participants across platforms such as Discord, Slack, and LinkedIn, support onboarding and resources, and organize workshops, AMA sessions, and demo days. - Sponsor & Partner Collaboration
Work closely with AI companies, sponsors, and partners to translate their technologies into hackathon challenges. Coordinate sponsor participation in workshops, mentorship, judging, and developer resources while ensuring strong event visibility. - Volunteer & Mentor Management
Recruit and coordinate volunteers, mentors, and judges. Manage schedules, training, and communication to ensure participants receive timely support. - Marketing & Promotion
Collaborate with the marketing team on event promotion, including announcements, social media, and email campaigns. Partner with universities and developer communities to increase participation. Event Operations & Reporting
Oversee hackathon operations including registration, submissions, judging, and demo day logistics. Track engagement metrics, collect feedback, and deliver post-event reports with insights for sponsors and internal teams.
Requirements:
- 2–5+ years experience in community management, developer relations, events, or startup ecosystems
- Experience organizing hackathons, tech events, or innovation challenges is highly preferred
- Experience working with developer communities or AI ecosystems is a plus
- Strong communication and community engagement skills
- Excellent project management and organizational abilities
- Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders
- Comfortable working with startups, developers, and corporate partners
Familiarity with platforms such as Discord, Slack, Notion, Airtable, or event platforms
Nice to have:
- Experience in developer relations (DevRel)
- Background in AI, data science, or software engineering
- Experience working with universities, accelerators, or startup ecosystems
Experience running global online hackathons
