Solutions Engineer to $10000
Remote – US time – Full-time – $75k–$130k
About the Role
Join our small, growing go-to-market team as the technical backbone of our enterprise sales efforts. You’ll own the technical side of evaluations — from deep-dive demos to proof-of-concept (POC) execution to deployment guidance — helping IT leaders see exactly how MyWorkDrive fits into their environment and removing blockers that stall deals.
This is not a support role and not pure pre-sales. You are the person who drives technical decisions so sales can close and customers can deploy successfully. You’ll work directly with our Account Executive and Customer Success Manager, with a clear escalation path to Product for unique edge cases.
As our first dedicated Solutions Engineer, you’ll help build the function from the ground up. You’ll define how we run technical sales — shaping the POC process, demo environment, security review workflow, and reference architectures. If you’re looking to inherit a playbook and follow it, this isn’t the role for you. If you want to create one, it is.
What You’ll Do
- Join discovery calls when technical depth is needed and surface blockers early.
- Deliver tailored demos and structured POCs for IT Directors, CISOs, and systems engineers — customized for the prospect’s environment, not a generic sandbox.
- Design and execute POCs under 30 days with clear success criteria.
- Guide prospects through environment readiness: AD/Entra ID integration, SSO, DNS, SSL, storage paths, firewall, and load balancer requirements. Validate everything works before go-live.
- Work directly with customer security teams during architecture reviews and technical questionnaires.
- Design reference architectures for deployments from 200–5,000 users across on-prem and cloud storage.
- Conduct deployment check-ins with post-sale customers through go-live, ensuring smooth POC-to-production transitions. Hand off to Customer Success with complete documentation and risk notes.
- Provide product feedback to our PM based on field insights.
What You Bring
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory and Azure AD/Entra ID, including SSO via SAML, ADFS, and OIDC.
- Deep knowledge of Windows file sharing, NTFS permissions, and SMB.
- Solid networking fundamentals: DNS, SSL/TLS, reverse proxies, load balancers, firewalls.
- Enterprise storage experience — on-prem file servers, NAS, Azure Files, or similar.
- Basic PowerShell for configuration and validation tasks.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 licensing (E3/E5 vs. F3) is a plus.
Customer & Delivery Skills
- Proven experience running technical POCs or pilots, either vendor-side or within a customer IT environment.
- Ability to translate technical architecture into business outcomes for non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable managing multiple concurrent evaluations without losing track.
- Strong written communication — documenting architectures, responding to security questionnaires, and creating materials for customers and internal teams.
Ideal Background
- Solutions Engineer or TAM at a file access, storage, security, or infrastructure software company.
- Senior engineer or technical lead at an MSP or VAR with Windows and networking focus.
- IT Manager or Senior Sysadmin ready to move to the vendor side.
- Infrastructure consultant with significant customer-facing delivery experience.
Why MyWorkDrive
- Direct Impact: Every POC you run directly influences deals. You’ll know your contribution.
- Technical Depth: Real hybrid architectures — on-prem file servers, cloud identity, modern access — not watered-down SaaS demos.
- Ownership: Small team, no bureaucracy. Shape how we run technical sales.
- Economics: Competitive base salary plus commission on deals you support, at a profitable company.
- Culture: Remote-first, low-meeting, outcome-focused.
