Senior Stripe Expert – Stripe Billing / Checkout Specialist (Flutter or VueJS/Nuxt Environment)

We are a german software development company working with a wide range of clients across different industries. Our projects span SaaS platforms, subscription models, marketplaces, and custom digital products.

For several ongoing and upcoming client projects, we are looking for a highly experienced Stripe expert who can support us on a freelance basis – both strategically and hands-on.

This is not a junior or mid-level position. We are specifically looking for someone who has implemented and configured Stripe in many complex, real-world production environments and has deep expertise in Stripe Billing, Checkout, and API integrations.

Your Role

As our Stripe Expert, you will:

• Advise our internal development teams (Flutter or VueJS/Nuxt-based projects)
• Support complex Stripe implementations across multiple client projects
• Audit and optimize existing Stripe setups
• Troubleshoot configuration errors and edge cases
• Guide clients through billing logic, pricing models, and subscription architecture
• Implement and adjust Stripe integrations directly when needed
• Assist in handling pricing migrations and subscription transitions
• Help avoid common pitfalls in Stripe configuration and product modeling

You will work closely with our developers and occasionally interact with clients in a consultative capacity.

Required Expertise

We are looking for someone who:

• Has extensive hands-on experience with Stripe Billing & Checkout
• Has set up and configured many Stripe projects from scratch
• Has handled:
  • Complex subscription models (monthly, annual, usage-based, tiered pricing)
  • Coupons, discounts, and promotional logic
  • Multiple price changes and migrations in live systems
  • Subscription upgrades/downgrades and proration
  • Trials and grandfathered pricing
  • Webhooks and event-driven billing logic
  • Tax configuration (e.g., Stripe Tax, EU VAT cases)
  • Payment failures and dunning logic
  • Customer portal configuration
• Is highly familiar with:
  • Stripe Admin Dashboard (deep configuration knowledge)
  • Stripe API (server-side & client-side integrations)
  • Webhook debugging and error handling
  • Test mode vs. live mode differences
• Has experience resolving real-world edge cases and production issues
• Can quickly identify architectural mistakes in existing Stripe setups
• Understands how to structure products, prices, and subscriptions properly from a long-term scalability perspective

Technical Context

Our client projects typically use:

• Flutter (mobile/web apps)
• VueJS / Nuxt

You do not need to be a full-stack expert in all technologies, but you must understand how Stripe integrates into modern frontend/backend architectures.

• Deep knowledge of subscription lifecycle management
• Comfortable working in complex, evolving billing environments
• Strong understanding of Stripe best practices and common pitfalls
