FinOps Site Reliability Engineer (USA)
We’ve built a modern, all-in-one lending platform that empowers our clients to innovate, adapt, and better serve their customers. As an established company with a proven product, we are scaling our team to meet growing demand and expand our platform’s capabilities.
We’re looking for a FinOps Site Reliability Engineer to drive cost observability and optimization across our infrastructure. You’ll own the end-to-end implementation of cost visibility tooling, billing automation, and efficiency improvements that directly impact our unit economics. This is an opportunity to build foundational FinOps capabilities at a growing fintech while working with modern cloud infrastructure at scale.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience in site reliability engineering, platform engineering, or a similar infrastructure-focused role.
- Professional experience with Python and familiarity with Go.
- Hands-on experience with cloud cost management, preferably on Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience building data pipelines and reporting systems with near-real-time latency requirements.
- Strong experience with Datadog or similar observability platforms.
- A track record of driving measurable cost optimizations in cloud environments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences, including finance stakeholders.
- Experience thriving in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with a high degree of ownership.
Would be a plus
- Experience with FinOps frameworks or certification (FinOps Certified Practitioner).
- Hands-on experience with BigQuery or similar data warehousing tools.
- Previous experience in fintech or another highly-regulated industry.
- Experience with Kubernetes and Terraform.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain cost observability systems and automation using Python and Go.
- Build and own our customer billing automation pipeline for invoicing.
- Architect reporting systems that surface profit and loss by product, SKU, environment, loan type, and customer.
- Implement and operate Datadog Cloud Cost Management, including deployment, service configuration, monitoring, and runbooks.
- Develop dashboards and tooling to track aggregated cost metrics (p50, p99) to operate loans by loan type, customer, and environment.
- Identify and execute cost optimization initiatives with a target of reducing cost of operating loans by 20%.
- Collaborate with engineering and finance stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Establish FinOps practices and processes that scale with the organization.
