Senior Test Engineer (Mobile)

We are looking for a Senior Test Engineer with deep expertise in mobile application testing for iOS and Android for a project from Germany.

The product is an online platform for ordering food and goods.

It provides a complete online delivery cycle – from order placement to customer receipt. Users can quickly order food, groceries, or other goods through web or mobile applications, track delivery in real time, and pay online. Restaurants and stores receive convenient tools for managing orders, tracking performance metrics, and attracting customers, while couriers get an optimized route system and navigation for fast delivery.

The company has been on the market since 2011. This is a new client for us. We are expanding the team and on our side are looking for a Lead AQA and 6 QA Engineers.

This role is suited for an experienced QA professional who can own the quality of mobile products end-to-end, drive testing strategy at the team level, and act as a technical mentor for other QA engineers. You will play a key role in shaping testing approaches, improving quality processes, and ensuring reliable releases of mobile applications.

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of experience in software testing
• Strong expertise in mobile application testing (iOS and Android)
• Extensive experience testing on real mobile devices (cloud mobile farms like BrowserStack or similar)
• Experience in doing API and UI End2End testing
• Ability to work independently and make quality-related decisions
• Strong communication skills and stakeholder-facing experience
• Experience working with test management and bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Zephyr or similar)
• Network analysis tools (Charles, Proxyman)
• Familiarity with: Android Studio, XCode
• Basic knowledge of ISTQB Foundation Level theory
• Solid understanding of:
• QA methodologies and SDLC
• Test design techniques
• Defect lifecycle and quality metrics

Key Responsibilities

Testing Ownership

• Own end-to-end testing for mobile applications on iOS and Android
• Perform and guide functional, regression, exploratory, and release testing
• Validate applications on a wide range of real devices, OS versions, and form factors
• Deeply understand mobile-specific risks (platform differences, permissions, lifecycle, background behavior)

Test Documentation

• Define and maintain test strategies for mobile applications
• Design robust test scenarios using risk-based and business-driven approaches
• Review and improve existing test cases, checklists, and regression suites
• Identify quality risks early and proactively address them

Defect Reporting and Communication

• Lead defect analysis, prioritization, and triage discussions
• Perform root-cause analysis and work with teams to prevent defect recurrence
• Act as a quality advocate, ensuring quality is built into the development process
• Communicate quality status and risks to stakeholders

QA Process and Quality Improvement

• Assess and improve existing QA processes and workflows
• Identify gaps in test coverage and propose improvements
• Define criteria for what should be automated vs. tested manually
• Support and mentor Junior and Middle QA engineers

Automation Collaboration (Strong Advantage)

• Actively collaborate with test automation engineers
• Prepare and refine manual test cases for automation readiness
• Review automated test results and analyze failures
• Hands-on participation in automation is a plus, but not mandatory
