Test Automation Engineer

About the Project

We are looking for a Test Automation Engineer to join an Agile squad working on the migration of legacy applications to a modern, event-driven, service-oriented architecture.

The role involves close collaboration with technical and business stakeholders and responsibility for defining and delivering an end-to-end testing approach across multiple projects within the squad.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of an Agile team delivering the migration of legacy systems to a modern, event-driven architecture
• Collaborate closely with Solution Architects, Product Owners, Technical Leads, application architects, and other stakeholders
• Design and implement end-to-end testing solutions covering both functional and non-functional requirements
• Build strong business and technical domain knowledge to support multiple initiatives
• Define estimation principles for different phases of the migration program
• Create, maintain, and present Test Strategies, proposing optimal and effective testing approaches
• Derive, review, execute, and maintain manual and automated test scenarios and test cases
• Manage defects end-to-end, including investigation and root cause analysis
• Identify, assess, and escalate risks and issues, proposing mitigation strategies
• Review test artefacts produced by team members to ensure quality, completeness, and accuracy
• Contribute to test reporting and continuous improvement of testing practices

Requirements

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse information from documentation, systems, data, and stakeholders
• Proven experience defining both manual and automated test scenarios with proper documentation and traceability
• Hands-on experience with test automation using Java, UFT, and ADS
• Experience reviewing test artefacts to ensure quality and compliance with standards
• Ability to facilitate discussions and workshops on test approaches and risk mitigation
• Strong defect management and investigation skills
• Experience in analysis, system design, and development of distributed, multi-platform solutions
• Solid object-oriented design and Java development experience
• Experience with event-driven technologies, particularly Kafka and Kafka Streams
• Strong database testing experience, especially with Oracle
• Advanced SQL skills and experience validating data through queries
• Very strong experience working in Agile environments
• Practical knowledge of BDD and TDD practices
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines (ADS)
• Strong understanding and hands-on experience with risk-based testing
• ISEB / ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing (mandatory)
