DevOps Engineer (bare metal experience necessary) Offline

We're seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with hands-on bare metal infrastructure experience to join our team. This role requires deep expertise in managing physical server infrastructure, Kubernetes distributions optimized for edge computing, and custom load balancing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain bare metal server infrastructure across multiple data centers
• Manage and optimize K3s clusters running on bare metal hardware
• Build and maintain custom load balancing solutions for high-availability applications
• Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) practices for bare metal provisioning and configuration
• Monitor system performance, capacity planning, and infrastructure scaling
• Troubleshoot hardware, network, and application-layer issues in production environments
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize application deployment pipelines
• Ensure security best practices across the infrastructure stack
• Document infrastructure architecture, runbooks, and standard operating procedures

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience managing bare metal server infrastructure (physical hardware, IPMI/BMC management, network configuration)
• Production experience with K3s (Rancher's lightweight Kubernetes distribution)
• Proven experience designing and running custom load balancers (HAProxy, NGINX, Traefik, or similar)
• Strong understanding of Linux system administration (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, or RHEL)
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Salt)
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, or Go)
• Deep knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VLANs, BGP)
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, containerd)
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MetalLB or other bare metal load balancing solutions
• Knowledge of Kubernetes networking (CNI plugins, service mesh)
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
• Experience with distributed storage solutions (Ceph, Longhorn, NFS)
• Background in hardware troubleshooting and vendor management
• Understanding of PXE boot, automated provisioning systems
• Experience with high-availability database setups on bare metal
• Knowledge of security hardening for physical infrastructure
