Cinematic Sound Designer
Next Gen Lab is looking for a talented Sound Designer to join the team behind Pulse Docs, an exciting new animation channel on American YouTube.
About the Project
Pulse Docs creates immersive mini-documentaries and docudramas focused on crime, guns, prison escapes, and geopolitical stories. We use realistic, faceless 3D character models to tell gripping stories.
Our goal is to build one of the premier animated channels in 2026.
Key Goals:
- 3-4 Videos Produced Per Month (20–30 mins each)
- 1 Million Views Per Month
- 200,000 Subscribers

What You'll Do
You will be responsible for the full audio post-production process, turning raw animation and voiceover into a broadcast-quality sonic experience.
- Design Immersive Soundscapes: Build detailed 3D environments using ambiance, room tone, and environmental effects that place the viewer directly into the scene (e.g., a cold prison cell, a busy 2018 boardroom, a chaotic crime scene).
- Cinematic Foley & SFX: Layer realistic sound effects to sell the weight and physics of our 3D animations—footsteps, clothing rustle, gun handling, and vehicle engines.
- Score Selection & Editing: Select and edit stock music to drive the narrative arc, understanding exactly when to drop the music for impact and when to swell the score for emotional release.
- Dialogue Mixing & Mastering: Process voiceovers for crisp, radio-quality clarity, ensuring perfect balance against music and SFX.
- Pacing & Tension: Use silence, stingers, and risers to build "WTF" moments and retain viewer attention through 20+ minute runtimes.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong Audio Reel: Examples of narrative sound design (documentary, short film, game audio, or high-end YouTube content) demonstrating range and subtlety.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of DAWs (Pro Tools, Reaper, Logic, etc.) and audio repair tools (iZotope RX, etc.).
- Storytelling Instincts: You understand that sound is 50% of the movie. You know how to use audio dynamics to manipulate audience emotion and improve retention.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to sync audio perfectly to 3D character movements and cinematic cuts.
- YouTube Knowledge: Understanding of loudness standards (LUFS) for YouTube and how to mix for mobile/laptop speakers while retaining fidelity.
- Bonus: Experience with thriller/crime genres or 3D animation pipelines.
What We Offer
- Remote Work: Flexible schedule.
- Performance Bonuses: Bonuses for viral videos, hitting key production metrics, and creative initiative.
- Growth Opportunities: Path to become a Lead Audio Engineer or Post-Production Supervisor as we scale to a multi-million audience.
- Profit Sharing: Opportunities for team leads.
