Customer Overview

The client is a regulated digital asset bank operating in Europe. The company provides secure and compliant financial services related to digital assets for both institutional and private clients, combining traditional banking principles with modern digital technologies.

Project Overview

The project is focused on building a unified, cross-product e-banking portal with the ambition to become a state-of-the-art solution across both traditional banking and digital asset platforms.

The role centers on auditing, refining, and scaling an existing design system, ensuring it remains robust, extensible, and aligned with long-term product strategy. Close collaboration with front-end engineering teams is a key part of this work.

Team: Design and front-end engineering teams

Responsibilities

• Define the architecture and long-term vision of the design system to support scalability and efficiency
• Develop and maintain visual standards, including typography, color, spacing, and grid systems
• Build, document, and maintain responsive component libraries based on MUI
• Establish processes for design system updates, quality control, and adoption across teams
• Work closely with UX leadership and front-end engineers to ensure alignment between design and implementation
• Conduct design reviews and promote best practices for consistent system usage

Required Skills

• 2+ years of experience in product design (UI/UX)
• 5+ years of hands-on experience building and scaling design systems at an organizational level
• Proven experience evolving design systems for products with a large user base
• Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including components, tokens, variants, auto-layouts, and plugins
• Strong understanding of design tokens, component architecture, and their relationship to code
• Experience defining and maintaining typography and color guidelines within a design system
• Strong focus on responsive and scalable component design across multiple devices
• Experience integrating design systems with front-end frameworks such as Storybook, React, or MUI
• Solid knowledge of WCAG and accessibility standards and their implementation in components
• Strong documentation skills for structuring and maintaining component libraries

Nice to Have

• Experience working with multi-brand or cross-platform design systems
• Background in regulated digital finance or related domains

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially with engineering leadership
• Ability to justify design decisions based on efficiency, scalability, and maintainability
