Trainee Software Engineer (Web)

Department/Project Description

Long-term project involving development of the Roku TV streaming application for an international broadcasting company headquartered in New York, US. The company owns several television channels/brands and would like to upgrade their existing Roku application.

• Web development experience building high traffic, consumer-facing websites
• Good culture fit and excellent team player
• Good level knowledge of JavaScript
• Knowledge of the latest open standards and web technologies
• Ability to decompose complex problems into manageable units of work
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of React fundamentals

Bonus:

• Experience with ReactJS, Express, PageSpeed, SASS/LESS, AWS, Node.js 
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Job Responsibilities

What you'll be doing

• Build innovative features for the Roku streaming TV application
• Code, test, document and deliver features with cross-browser compatibility, accessibility
• Determine the strategic and tactical direction of the front-end architecture
• Participate in Agile development process, including scoping, technical design, estimation effort, coding, testing, debugging, code reviews, maintenance and support
• Collaborate with program managers, marketing, designers, software engineers in tests to build and enhance the UI
• Innovate and create the best user experience online
