Senior Automation Engineer (TypeScript/Python) to $6500

Who We Are:

Adaptiq is a technology hub specializing in building, scaling, and supporting R&D teams for high-end, fast-growing product companies in a wide range of industries.

About the Product:

Our client develops a real-time digital employee experience management platform that provides IT teams with end-to-end visibility across physical, virtual, and cloud environments. The system collects thousands of metrics every few seconds, aggregates them in a multi-tenant SaaS architecture, and enables automated remediation and synthetic testing. Operating at global scale, the platform supports custom configurations, dashboards, APIs and integrations for internal and external stakeholders. Engineers face challenges in building reliable end-to-end flows across microservices, ensuring stability under high data volume, maintaining observability, and evolving shared services without downtime. Strong technical ownership and collaboration skills are essential to drive continuous improvement in this mission-critical environment.

About the Role:

You will join the central Platform Group as the  Automation Engineer. This team owns the shared services that underpin all product lines—internal dashboards, customer-specific configurations, APIs, and integrations—delivered through a microservices-based SaaS platform. Your charter is to own and evolve the existing automation framework, increasing test coverage, reducing flakiness, strengthening observability, and defining quality standards. You will validate complex end-to-end workflows, investigate failures by tracing service interactions and analyzing logs, and report issues with clear technical insight. Ownership extends beyond test code: you’ll propose or implement small application changes to improve testability. This role offers deep technical impact at the platform level, autonomy in driving quality, and close collaboration with platform engineers, DevOps, and other stakeholders. You will also leverage AI tools responsibly to accelerate design, code generation, test automation, and documentation while maintaining engineering rigor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and enhance the existing automation framework for shared platform services, focusing on stability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Design and implement automated tests for end-to-end platform workflows spanning multiple services, APIs, and environments.
  • Validate platform behavior in a microservices-based SaaS environment, ensuring production-grade reliability.
  • Act as quality owner for platform components: identify early risks, prevent regressions, and enforce standards.
  • Collaborate with platform engineers, DevOps, and stakeholders to ensure features are testable, observable, and fault-tolerant.
  • Reduce test flakiness and enhance signal quality across CI pipelines.
  • Maintain high engineering standards in automation code structure, separation of concerns, and long-term maintainability.
  • Self-manage tasks end-to-end and demonstrate full ownership of quality initiatives.
  • Incorporate AI tools into daily workflows for architecture design, code generation, test automation, and documentation under responsible usage guidelines.

Required Competence and Skills:

  • 5+ years of automation testing experience.
  • Experience working with SaaS web applications in a microservices environment.
  • 1+ year of professional experience with TypeScript.
  • Practical experience with Python-based automation.
  • 2+ years developing automation infrastructure using Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress.
  • 2+ years automating REST APIs and third-party integrations.
  • Deep knowledge of automation best practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented principles, and test methodologies.
  • Experience planning and writing tests, defining coverage strategies, and mentoring peers.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret logs, trace flows across services, and diagnose complex failures.
  • Fluent English communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated self-management, ownership mindset, and positive team attitude.
  • Hands-on usage of AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, CursorAI, Claude Code) with critical review and validation.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with container orchestration solutions such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with API testing tools like Postman.
  • Experience using test reporting frameworks such as Allure.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing database queries.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
