SMTP.com Integrated Operations Center is looking for a skilled and responsible DevOps Engineer to join our Platform team. A successful candidate will be essential in maintaining and continuously improving a modern hybrid email delivery platform that serves thousands of customers worldwide, with a strong focus on automation, reliability, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).

You will architect, implement, and maintain our complex hybrid infrastructure, ensuring its stability, security, and high availability.

As part of the Platform team, you will work closely with Development, Operations, and Customer Success departments, playing a critical role in establishing and upholding the technical foundation for the entire product development and delivery lifecycle.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of hands-on recent experience with System Administration (Server side Linux).
• Proven practical experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and configuration management tools ( Ansible, Puppet).
• Good understanding of core networking principles and protocols (TCP/IP model, load balancing, troubleshooting).
• Practical experience with different monitoring tools and services aimed at meeting SLO/SLA requirements (incident prevention and proactive reaction techniques).
• Clear understanding of industry-standard Incident Response and Management processes.
• Ability to be a part of off-hours on-call rotation and escalation schedule as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
• Solution-driven mindset, strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to assess priorities, manage self-coordination, and deliver results in line with Company goals.
• Confident spoken and written English language.

Qualifications/Experience:

• Hands-on expertise in Linux OS (Ubuntu, AWS Linux) administration
• Experience with CI/CD tools and concepts (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
• Experience with bare metal servers installation from scratch (PXE, IPMI/iDrac/iLO).
• General database administration experience (SQLs like MySQL/PgSQL, in-memory DBs like Redis/RabbitMQ).
• Understanding of mail protocols (SMTP, POP3, IMAP) and related configurations (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).
• Experience in DNS server-side management and administration (recursors, zone management, various RR types).
• Bash/Python scripting experience for daily routine automation and infrastructure improvements

Responsibilities:
 

• Build, maintain, and resolve problems within a hybrid ecosystem of 500+ servers, emphasizing automation and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Adhere to and continuously improve Platform team processes and procedures to meet target Service Level Objectives (SLO) / Service Level Agreements (SLA) and uptime goals.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for escalated infrastructure issues, providing timely and efficient last-mile solutions during incident resolution (including on/off hours on-call escalation participation).
• Support and optimize monitoring systems and related services, focusing on early incident detection and automated resolution.
• Architect and implement High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity (Backup) solutions.
• Lead technical efforts for Platform Development Life Cycle (PDLC), including CI/CD pipeline automation and release management.
• Contribute to and optimize hybrid resource management and utilization strategy, participating in cost optimization/performance improvement activities.
• Maintain accurate and current documentation (runbooks, UML, new component details) for the infrastructures, systems, components, and network layers.
