Middle Backend Engineer (Node.js/NestJS, Microservices, Kafka) to $3000
About the Role:
We’re building a cutting-edge national digital platform that will power state exam management at scale. This is a high-impact, high-visibility project backed by government institutions - and we’re looking for a strong Backend Engineer to join our core development team.
About the team:
You’ll join a cross-functional squad including an architect, PM, backend and frontend devs, DevOps, and QA engineers.
What you’ll do:
- Design and develop backend services in a modern microservices architecture
- Work extensively with Node.js and NestJS to build robust, scalable modules
- Integrate external government services, registries, and data providers
- Implement and maintain Kafka-based asynchronous workflows
- Collaborate closely with Front-End, DevOps, QA, and the architect to deliver high-quality features
- Take ownership of service reliability, performance, and integration logic
What we expect:
- At least 3.5 years of experience with Node.js and NestJS
- Solid background in microservices and distributed system design
- Practical experience with Kafka (producers, consumers, stream processing, etc.)
- Expertise in integrating external APIs / enterprise systems
Nice to have:
- Experience with government service integrations
- Familiarity with Docker / Kubernetes
Knowledge of PostgreSQL and production-grade database design
