Principal Platform Engineer

Description of the project:

We are looking for a Platform Engineering Principal to help build and scale the Platform Engineering function at Cority. This role combines technical acumen and leadership, product strategy, and team mentoring to deliver a platform that accelerates software delivery, improves developer experience, and aligns with business goals.

Your qualification:

• 10+ years of experience in Software/Platform Engineering, including 3+ years in senior or principal-level roles.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Proven track record in building and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
• Experience delivering scalable developer platforms and productivity tools.
• Experience with Microservice Development and Support.
• Strong background in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure (AWS/GCP), CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, and modern software architecture.
• Deep expertise with tools such as GitLab, SonarQube, LaunchDarkly, Terraform, Pulumi, and Backstage.
• Strong experience with Observability and Telemetry platforms to provide insights into both infrastructure and workloads.
• Strong scripting experience (Python preferred).
• Product-oriented mindset with the ability to define strategy, set priorities, and measure impact.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Guide platform engineering best practices, oversee core platform and self-service tool development.
• Help Define and Execute the platform vision, set priorities, and align initiatives with organizational goals and addressing pain points within the Engineering practice.
• Mentor and grow engineers; help foster a high-performance, collaborative culture.
• Partner with developers and leadership teams to deliver value and drive adoption.
• Ensure platform reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency; drive automation and observability.
• Treat the platform as a product-focus on developer experience, gather feedback, and measure impact (e.g., adoption, DORA metrics).
