Lead Platform Engineer (API Gateway / Kubernetes / Golang)

We are looking for an experienced Lead Platform Engineer to design and implement an API Gateway solution, integrating it with modern cloud and Kubernetes infrastructure. This role combines technical leadership, hands-on engineering, and architecture-level decision-making. You’ll play a key part in shaping the company’s service communication layer, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability across the platform.

 

Requirements:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes (including Gateway API and operator development) for at least 4 years
  • Upper-Intermediate level of English, both written and spoken
  • Solid proficiency in Golang (microservices, automation tools, operators)
  • Practical knowledge of Cloudflare configuration and integrations (including Workers)
  • Experience with JavaScript / TypeScript for tooling or frontend maintenance
  • Proven skills in GitLab CI/CD pipeline design and optimization
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform infrastructure and services
  • Ability to take ownership of complex projects and drive them from concept to production

 

Nice to have:

  • Experience with API Gateway solutions (Envoy Proxy, Apache APISIX, Kong, 3scale, or similar)
  • Experience maintaining and enhancing documentation portals built with Docusaurus
  • Knowledge of Node.js and React for small frontend enhancements
  • Understanding of nginx (reverse proxy, configuration)

     

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the API Gateway project, from research and architecture to implementation and support
  • Evaluate and select the most suitable solution (Envoy, APISIX, Kong, or 3scale)
  • Build prototypes and integrate with the Kubernetes Gateway API
  • Develop Kubernetes operators and microservices in Golang
  • Configure integrations with Cloudflare, GCP, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • Maintain and improve the internal documentation portal
  • Contribute to small features, bug fixes, and CI pipeline enhancements as needed
