Senior Infrastructure-aware QA Automation Specialist (Infrastructure and Release) (IRC278663)

Required Skills and Experience (Must Have)

  • Hands-on experience with AWS (e.g., IAM, SQS, RDS, Redis/ElastiCache, S3, SNS, Lambda, VPC), including troubleshooting misconfigurations and dependency issues across environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Python for automation frameworks, test development, and scripting; ability to read/debug Go services is a plus.
  • Practical Kubernetes experience (namespaces, Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps/Secrets, RBAC, HPA, Helm) sufficient to reason about application deployment, scaling, and test impact.
  • Experience designing black-box/gray-box tests for infrastructure and configuration correctness, ideally in a GitOps / Infrastructure-as-Code setup (Terraform, Git repositories as the source of truth).
  • Comfortable using observability platforms (New Relic, OpenTelemetry, or similar) to monitor latency, error rates, saturation, and dependencies as part of validation and troubleshooting.
  • Solid QA fundamentals: risk-based testing, regression/system testing, integration testing, and exploratory testing, ideally in a safety- or compliance-critical domain (e.g., medical devices, FinTech).
  • Strong communication: ability to explain complex systems clearly, lead discussions on release risk, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience validating Infrastructure-as-Code using tools like Terratest or equivalent custom test frameworks to verify Terraform modules, networking, RBAC, and critical resources.
  • Familiarity with GitOps tooling and workflows such as Argo CD, Helmfile/Helm charts, and Git-based environment promotion.
  • Experience designing and running performance, load, or stress tests (e.g., JMeter, k6, Gatling) and interpreting results to drive scaling and optimization decisions.
  • Background or exposure to SRE/DevSecOps practices (SLIs/SLOs, reliability and security checks in pipelines), and observability in service meshes (Istio/Linkerd) or with Cilium/eBPF.
  • Prior experience in medical/HealthTech products or other regulated industries, understanding compliance, audit trails, and validation expectations.

Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Infrastructure-aware QA Automation Specialist, you will design and implement automated tests for APIs, backend services, and cloud infrastructure, ensuring correctness across environments and CI/CD pipelines for medical software and connected devices. You will collaborate closely with Developers, SRE/DevOps, and Product to use IaC, GitOps, and observability platforms (e.g., New Relic) to validate system health, scalability, and reliability before and after releases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites for APIs, backend services, and infrastructure/configuration correctness in AWS and Kubernetes-based environments.
  • Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab/Jenkins) as risk-based quality gates, defining stages, thresholds, and actions on failure in collaboration with Dev and SRE teams.
  • Validate infrastructure and environments across Dev/QA/Prod-like stages using Terraform/IaC definitions, Kubernetes resources, and configuration checks, preventing config-to-resource mismatches.
  • Use observability tools (New Relic, OpenTelemetry-based stacks, or similar) to define key signals, validate releases, investigate incidents, and distinguish between application, infra, and environment noise.
  • Contribute to performance and scalability testing (e.g., JMeter or similar), helping design scenarios, interpret metrics, and influence scaling and capacity decisions.

Department/Project Description

Our client is an innovative manufacturer of medical devices in the United States, producing devices and software applications.

In this project, you will have a great opportunity to be involved in the full development life cycle of medical software, which is designed to assist individuals by processing information from medical devices to identify health trends and track daily activities. In addition, there are opportunities to work with medical devices, in the scope of end-to-end testing.
