Lead Shopify Engineer

We’re looking for a Lead Front-End Shopify Engineer to own the technical direction of our e-commerce projects. You will combine hands-on coding with leadership, mentoring, and architectural decision-making, ensuring high-quality, performant, and scalable Shopify storefronts.

Responsibilities:

• Lead development and deployment of Shopify storefronts.
• Build and customize themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS/SCSS, and JavaScript.
• Extend Online Store 2.0 features (sections, blocks, metafields).
• Integrate third-party apps, APIs, and backend services.
• Optimize performance, Core Web Vitals, accessibility (WCAG), and SEO.
• Write clean, reusable, and well-tested code.
• Mentor engineers, review code, and contribute to architectural decisions (state management, caching, deployment).
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues collaboratively.
• Use AI tools to speed up coding, reviews, and problem solving.
• Collaborate with designers and product managers to deliver scalable, pixel-perfect solutions.
• Stay up to date with Shopify platform updates and e-commerce trends.

Requirements:

• 5+ years front-end development, 3+ in senior or lead roles.
• Portfolio of a live website examples.
• Deep Shopify expertise:
  • Theme development with Liquid, HTML, SCSS/CSS, JavaScript
  • Online Store 2.0 architecture (sections, blocks, metafields)
  • Shopify Admin, storefront, checkout customization
  • Shopify CLI, Git-based workflows
  • Third-party app integrations and custom scripts
  • Performance, accessibility, SEO optimization
  • Shopify APIs (Storefront API, Admin API, webhooks)
• Experience with GraphQL/REST APIs, asynchronous JavaScript (fetch/AJAX)
• Familiarity with front-end tooling (Webpack, Vite, esbuild); TailwindCSS is a plus
• Excellent English communication skills and experience in distributed teams

Will be a plus:

• Shopify Plus (Scripts, checkout.liquid, Flow)
• Translating Figma/Sketch designs into pixel-perfect themes
• Composable commerce architecture
• Analytics tools (Google Analytics, GTM)
• Exposure to other e-commerce platforms (Magento, BigCommerce, SFCC)
