Senior Python/Django Engineer — Core Platform

What you’ll do

  • Build core features end-to-end: Django/DRF services, clean APIs, solid data models, and reliable background jobs.
  • Make it fast & reliable: profile hot paths, kill N+1s, tune Postgres queries/indexes, add caching/queues, and improve p95/p99.
  • Raise quality: pragmatic tests (unit/contract), clear docs, feature flags, safe rollouts, and strong code reviews.
  • Own operability: metrics/logging/tracing, SLOs/alerts, runbooks, and cost-aware decisions on AWS.
  • Be AI-native: use AI assistants for prototyping, tests, refactors, docs, and research—augmenting (not replacing) engineering judgment.
  • Collaborate well: work async, give/receive feedback, and ship iteratively with product/design.

Tech you’ll touch

  • Core: Python 3.x, Django/DRF, PostgreSQL (Aurora), Redis, RabbitMQ, REST/webhooks.
  • Platform: AWS (ECS Fargate), Terraform, GitHub Actions, Sentry, LaunchDarkly, Superset.
  • Frontend touchpoints: React/TypeScript (nice to have).

What you bring

  • 5–7 years building production backends with Python/Django.
  • Strong performance engineering: profilers, EXPLAIN plans, connection pooling, caching strategies, async offload.
  • Solid architecture: clear boundaries, backward-compatible changes, versioned contracts.
  • Testing discipline (pytest, factories/fixtures, contract tests) and operability mindset (metrics/alerts).
  • Security basics (PII handling, secrets, OWASP); fintech/SOC2/PCI awareness is a plus.
  • Clear English communication and effective AI-assisted development habits.

Nice to have

  • Experience with third-party APIs and a lightweight integrations framework (auth, retries, idempotency, webhooks).
  • Fintech/payments/KYC/KYB exposure.

How we work

  • Remote-first across Eastern Europe with reasonable overlap to Pacific Time.
  • Product-driven, metrics-led delivery; ship with flags, measure, iterate.

Hiring process

Intro chat → Technical deep-dive (system design + Django perf) → Practical pairing or small take-home → Team interview → Offer.
