Strong Middle QA Engineer to $3500

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR?
We are seeking a highly skilled Strong Middle QA Engineer (manual-first) with hands-on experience in test automation to join our team building an innovative edge computing platform with a supplemental cloud presence. As part of a cross-functional product/platform group, you will own end-to-end manual testing across our on-prem edge stack and web applications. Manual testing is the priority now, but you’ll have scope to upskill and implement focused automation over time.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own end-to-end manual testing for edge platform and applications running in the cloud.
• Identify, report, and track bugs using Jira.
• Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and checklists in a test case management system; keep traceability to Jira tickets and acceptance criteria.
• Execute functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory tests for Web UI and REST APIs; validate happy paths, boundary cases, and error handling.
• File high-quality defects (clear STR, expected vs. actual, environment, logs/screenshots).
• Participate in creating automation test scenarios
• Communicate closely with the development team regarding issues and improvements.

WHAT YOU BRING ALONG:

• Upper-Intermediate English level
• 3+ years in QA/QC/AQA for backend/platform or web applications, with a strong manual testing core.
• 1+ year of hands-on experience of testing applications running on the edge.
• Solid Linux user skills for testing & triage: SSH, systemctl/journalctl, grep/tail, reading service logs.
• Web testing fundamentals: HTTP, REST/JSON, cookies/sessions; hands-on with Postman and browser devtools.
• Security/IAM depth: OAuth2/OIDC concepts, token lifecycles, and negative-case testing.
• Test case management proficiency (e.g., TestRail/Zephyr/Xray) and defect tracking in Jira.
• Experience with test automation (Python, Pytest, Playwright/Selenium)
• Clear, concise documentation in Confluence and reproduction steps in English.
• Practical understanding of containerized deployments.

WILL BE A PLUS:

• Experience testing in intermittent/edge networking conditions: toggling interfaces, simulating loss/latency/timeouts.
• Keycloak user/role testing experience: creating users, assigning roles, validating RBAC in UI/API flows (admin vs. operator).
• Experience in testing distributed applications and event-driven architectures.
• Participation in testing of IoT solutions.
• Familiarity with HashiCorp Consul and Nomad concepts.
• SQL basics for test data validation in PostgreSQL (SELECTs, simple JOINs, constraints).
• Basic scripting: bash and ansible.
• Experience with Docker
