Backend Engineer (Node.js / Cloudflare / Web3) to $3000
We’re hiring a Backend Engineer to help build and scale a modern, edge-native, web3-enabled platform. You’ll be responsible for designing backend systems that are fast, resilient, and secure — while integrating directly with smart contracts, wallet infrastructure, and blockchain data.
You’ll work with technologies like Cloudflare Workers, Wrangler CLI, Drizzle ORM, CockroachDB/PostgreSQL, Redis/Upstash, BullMQ, and Viem — and you must be fluent in both backend architecture and web3 protocols.
What You'll Do
- Develop backend services in Node.js running on Cloudflare Workers
- Use Wrangler CLI for deployment, edge routing, and observability
- Design and manage scalable relational schemas using Drizzle ORM with CockroachDB or PostgreSQL
- Build asynchronous processing pipelines using BullMQ (or equivalent queue systems)
- Integrate with Redis/Upstash for caching, session state, and task queues
- Connect backend services to EVM-compatible blockchains using Viem
- Read and write to smart contracts, manage wallet flows, and interact with on-chain data
- Collaborate closely with frontend engineers consuming your APIs, typically in React/Next.js apps
Own the full development lifecycle from design to production monitoring
Requirements

Strong production experience with Node.js and Cloudflare Workers
Deep knowledge of web3 fundamentals, including:
EVM architecture and smart contract interaction
Wallet flows and signature validation
RPC providers and event listening
Professional experience using Viem, ethers.js, or similar libraries
Proficiency with Drizzle ORM and SQL databases (CockroachDB/PostgreSQL)
Familiarity with Redis, Upstash, and distributed job queues (BullMQ, SQS, etc.)
Experience building and scaling APIs consumed by modern frontend stacks
Strong grasp of system design, testing, CI/CD, and performance optimization
Comfort in fast-paced, remote, and async-first teams
Nice to Have
Experience working in early-stage startups or contributing to open-source tools
Familiarity with additional web3 stacks (e.g., The Graph, ZK tech, cross-chain bridges)
Contributions to smart contracts (Solidity or otherwise)
