Senior/Lead Python Engineer

Job Description

• 5+ years of relevant development experience on different projects;
• Advanced skills with Python;
• Proven experience in leading engineering teams and driving technical decisions;
• Solid understanding of OOP, design patterns, software architecture design, software development principles and best practices;
• Strong analytical, design and decomposition skills;
• Hands-on experience with microservice architecture;
• Experience with PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy or any other ORM;
• Experience with Docker;
• Experience with Redis;
• Experience with RabbitMQ;
• Experience with Linux;
• Experience with AWS Cloud Platform is a plus;
• Experience with distributed systems (using Celery task manager, etc) is a plus;
• Experience with agile and other development methodologies;
• Intermediate+ written and verbal English skills;
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills;

Job Responsibilities

• Design and implementation of Python based microservices;
• Implementation of new functionality;
• Analysis and breakdown of feature requirements;
• Task decomposition and distribution within the team;
• Effort estimation for planned work;
• Proactive identification of system bottlenecks and proposal of improvements to the customer;
• Participation in architecture and technical decision-making discussions;
• Code review and ensuring code quality across the team;
• Mentoring and onboarding of less experienced team members;

Department/Project Description

Customer provides bionformatics solutions for infection disease diagnostics, pharmaceutical discovery and microbiome analysis. The team is working on design and implementation of distributed cloud based SaaS bionformatic solution intended for research and clinical diagnostics usage. The solution utilizes AWS Cloud Platform capabilities to perform highly computational and memory intentensive DNA analysis operations in a short period of time. The product integrates with all leading DNA sequencing manufacturers platforms and allows clinical and bioinformatic researchers to integrate the product into their platform.
