Founding Backend Engineer to $7000

This is the beating heart of wring.co. If this seat is empty:

  • We can’t ship product at the speed early customers expect.
  • There is no technical owner to set the bar for code quality, reliability, and velocity.
  • We won’t have the foundation of a culture that values both rigorous engineering and pragmatic execution.
This role is the difference between a promising idea and a real business.

The Kind of Person We’re Not Looking For

Let’s be direct—if you:

  • Clock in at 9 and out at 5 without thinking about the mission.
  • Prefer to be told exactly what to build, rather than spotting problems and owning solutions.
  • Find the idea of talking with customers or recruiting engineers “someone else’s job.”

This isn’t going to be a fit. We want grit, curiosity, and a genuine excitement about shipping products end-to-end.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Own the Technology End-to-End
    • Architect, build, and maintain the core platform.
    • Make technical decisions with long-term scalability in mind.
  2. Build and Lead the Engineering Team
    • Recruit, onboard, and mentor early technical hires.
    • Shape engineering culture and processes.
  3. Collaborate Directly with Customers
    • Join implementation calls, understand pain points, and translate them into solutions.

Success Metrics

  1. Fast, High-Quality Shipping
    • Consistently deliver key features and improvements on aggressive timelines without compromising quality.
  2. Clear, Usable Documentation
    • Internal and customer-facing technical documentation that is clear, up-to-date, and easy to navigate.
  3. Technical Ownership
    • The product is stable, performant, and evolves rapidly—because you own it, end-to-end.
