Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer - Power BI Offline

We are looking for a Senior BI Developer who can take full ownership of our Power BI estate—from data‑model design and DAX optimisation through to workspace governance and end‑user enablement. You will build and maintain high‑impact dashboards and self‑service datasets that power editorial, product and commercial decisions across a fast‑growing digital‑media publisher.
 

Key Responsibilities

Power BI Ownership
• Architect semantic models, star schemas and complex DAX measures.
• Define governance
• Champion visual‑design best practice and train power users. Build reports and dashboards.

Data Engineering & SQL
• Write highly optimised SQL across BigQuery and other RDBMSs (mysql, postgres).
• Design and tune tables, partitions and materialised views for performance and cost control.
• Collaborate with our data engineer.

Advertising & Audience Analytics
• Integrate and model data from Google Ad Manager, Google Analytics 4, and other ad‑tech sources.
• Deliver dashboards that track CPM, RPM, viewability, session depth, retention and lifetime value.

Stakeholder Partnership
• Translate editorial and commercial questions into KPIs and data products.
• Present insights and recommendations to leadership in a clear, non‑technical manner.
• Work with product manager to give estimates, assess feasibility, and align on priorities.
 

Required Technical Skills
Power BI Expert: Advanced DAX, Power Query (M), Tabular Editor, calculation groups, row‑level security, deployment pipelines.
SQL Mastery: Deep experience profiling and optimising complex joins, window functions, CTEs and aggregate queries.
Google Analytics (UA & GA4): Event modelling, channel attribution, consent‑mode implications.
Digital‑Ad Metrics: Strong grasp of CPM, RPM, fill rate, viewability and how they intersect with content strategy.
Data Engineering: Python for data wrangling, orchestration with Airflow/Cloud Composer, version control (Git) – a plus.
Cloud Platforms: Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, IAM).
 

Nice‑to‑Have
• Prior experience at a publisher, broadcaster or ad‑tech vendor.
• Familiarity with dbt, Airflow or other declarative transformation frameworks.
• Experience instrumenting server‑side tagging and consent‑mode compliant analytics.
• Knowledge of Looker or Tableau for cross‑platform BI strategy.

Education & Experience
• 6+ years of professional BI/analytics development, with 3+ years focused on Power BI.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent hands‑on experience).
