VSCode Extension Developer (Node.js + VSCode API)

We're looking for a VSCode Extension Developer to join a fast-moving  

8-week MVP sprint for a cutting-edge AI debugging tool (under NDA, US client).

Duration: ~8 weeks
Start: ASAP
Location: Remote
Commitment: Full-time preferred
Stage: MVP

Responsibilities:
- Build a VSCode extension using TypeScript + VSCode Extension API
- Integrate with a Python backend (CLI now, API/WebSocket later)
- Automate sandboxed environments (Dev Containers, Docker)
- Detect dependencies (e.g., requirements.txt) and provision environments
- Implement in-editor UI: patch reviews, logs, status, metrics
- Ensure secure, reproducible workflows (local-first, no outbound by default)
- Write automated tests (unit/integration)
- Document features + onboarding

Qualification:
- Strong experience building VSCode extensions
- Deep Node.js knowledge, especially inter-process workflows
- Experience integrating with Python backends (via CLI, REST, or WebSocket).
- Hands-on with Docker / Dev Containers
- Solid sense of UX inside the editor
- Test-driven mindset
- Great async communicator + doc writer
- AI-first dev approach (uses Cursor, Windsurf, Cody, etc.)  — nice to have
