Job Description
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer with extensive experience in GCP to join our core team in Riga, Latvia office (we help with relocation). The ideal candidate is an independent, proactive engineer who thrives in dynamic environments and can navigate complex problems with ease. You will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and scalability across multiregional clusters.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on GCP using Terraform and other Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
- Implement and manage Kubernetes clusters with Helm, focusing on microservices architecture.
- Utilize Docker for containerization and manage services with Kubernetes.
- Configure and optimize Envoy proxies and Istio service mesh for traffic management and security.
- Work with gRPC for efficient inter-service communication.
- Set up and manage multiregional clusters, global load balancers, and enhance security with Cloud Armor.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like ArgoCD.
- Monitor system performance using frameworks like Prometheus and Grafana, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design solutions that meet client needs.
- Provide expert guidance on cloud architecture and best practices.
Required Skills and Experience
- 4+ years of hands-on production experience as a DevOps Engineer.
- Minimum 3 years of recent experience with GCP.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with GCP and AWS.
- Proficient in Infrastructure-as-Code tools, especially Terraform (experience with Terragrunt or Pulumi is a plus).
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker.
- Experience with gRPC, Envoy, and Istio.
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture.
- Proven experience with multiregional clusters and setting up global load balancers.
- Familiarity with Cloud Armor for security enhancements.
- Experience with ArgoCD for continuous delivery.
- Good understanding of networking: subnetting, HTTP, DNS, TLS, OSI Model.
- A consulting mindset with the ability to weigh and present pros/cons of various solutions.
- Upper-intermediate or higher level of English proficiency.
Bonus Points
- Experience managing databases like Cassandra, Clickhouse, or OpenSearch.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability frameworks (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).
- AWS, GCP, CKA, or other relevant cloud certifications.
- Contributions to open-source software or personal technical projects.
