Senior Network Engineer – High Growth Telecom Carrier (Australia)
About Nexthop
Nexthop is a next-generation internet carrier based in Australia, with an expanding presence across APAC. We deliver high-performance IP transit, Direct internet access, cloud interconnection, and edge connectivity to ISPs, hyperscalers, content networks, and enterprises — all backed by a robust IP/MPLS network and high-capacity optical fibre network.
We operate with a strong DevNetOps mindset, leveraging automation to build a smarter, leaner and more agile network. Nexthop is not just another carrier — we’re engineers building the automated internet we want to use.
We’re expanding our network rapidly in the APAC region, and we’re looking for driven, self-motivated engineers who thrive on autonomy and accountability.
Role Overview
As a Senior Network Engineer, you'll play a key role in architecting, supporting, and automating our network. You’ll have end-to-end ownership of key infrastructure in the APAC region, from design through to deployment, monitoring, and optimization. This is a highly autonomous role where initiative, technical excellence, and strong coding skills in Python are essential.
You’ll collaborate with a global team as we service our global customers. If you're excited about solving complex problems, automating at scale, and taking full ownership of your work — we want to hear from you.

- Independently drive projects from design to production, coordinating with global teams as needed
- Troubleshoot complex IP/MPLS issues across multiple layers and vendors (Arista, Juniper etc.)
- Ensure network availability and performance, proactively identifying risks and implementing solutions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal resources as well as communication with other external networks and down-stream customer networks.
- Monitor capacity trends and plan for growth in high-traffic APAC regions
- Maintain up-to-date network documentation and diagrams
- Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, supporting the global network 24x7
