Senior Backend Developer (Node.js / Nest.js / PostgreSQL / AWS) Offline

Our client – a freelance marketplace startup is looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join their team remotely. 

This is a fast-growing startup on a mission to make the freelance experience smarter, safer, and more seamless for everyone. The platform leverages AI-powered talent matching, secure contracts, and built-in project management tools to transform how clients and freelancers connect and collaborate. 

About Role
The role is for those who’s passionate about building scalable systems and architecting robust database solutions to take company’s backend infrastructure to the next level.
The project is currently at its launch stage, which makes it a great opportunity for a developer who wants to be involved in building a backend system from the ground up. It’s all about new development - no legacy code, no maintenance - just clean architecture and the chance to shape the system from the start.

Main Responsibilities
 

• Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js and Nest.js with a focus on clean, scalable architecture.
• Design and own PostgreSQL databases, including schema modeling, data integrity enforcement, indexing strategies, and performance tuning.
• Build reliable APIs to support our web and mobile platforms, ensuring secure and efficient data flow.
• Implement AWS infrastructure to support scalable deployment and resilient backend operations—think ECS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, and more.
• Collaborate closely with frontend, product, and design teams to deliver features that delight users.
• Ensure high system reliability through logging, monitoring, and proactive performance tuning.
• Contribute to technical discussions around architecture, security, scalability, and best practices.
• Drive automation and DevOps practices, including Docker containers, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code. 
   

Main Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js and Nest.js.
• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL, including advanced query design, schema optimization, and database performance tuning.
• Proven experience deploying and scaling applications on AWS.
• Familiarity with Redis, Docker, and CI/CD tooling.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices architecture, and secure backend design.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote-first environment.
• Clear communicator with a proactive mindset.

Would be a Plus

• Knowledge of GraphQL.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools like AWS CDK.
• Experience working in fast-paced startups or early-stage tech environments.
• Familiarity with freelance marketplaces or SaaS platforms.
• Previous experience with payment systems integration.
