Linux Kernel Developer

Samsung R&D Institute Ukraine (SRUKR) is seeking a dedicated and innovative Kernel Developer to join our team in Kyiv.

In this role, you will:

• Collaborate with security and system development engineers to address real-world challenges in Operating Systems.
• Contribute to the development of the POSIX-like OS.
• Enhance the performance and security of Samsung devices used by millions worldwide.

More specifically you will

• Design, develop, build, debug and test POSIX-like OS and its components.
• Implement and enhance Kernel-level security features and solutions.
• Participate in research activities and strategic prototyping for future Samsung products.

Major Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in C programming.
• Familiarity with at least one POSIX-like OS (e.g., Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, QNX, IRIX, MINIX, Tizen, Fuchsia, Zephyr, OP-TEE).
• Familiarity with building, testing and debugging OSs, including Kernel development.
• Understanding of ARM and/or RISC-V architecture and their specific features.
• Technical English communication skills.

Optional Requirements

• Experience with Linux Kernel architecture and operation.
• Knowledge of ARM technologies such as TrustZone, GIC, MMU, NEON, VFP, and Thumb.
• Familiarity with security architectures, including MAC/DAC, SE, LSM, and security models relevant to embedded systems.
• Experience in developing device drivers and working with POSIX APIs.
• Understanding of applied cryptography, including authentication and authorization protocols, and cryptographic algorithms.
• Experience with bootloader development and debugging.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as Xen, KVM, or QEMU.
• Ability to work collaboratively within teams on innovative projects.
