Our client is the leader in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) sector, providing the US's most widely used developmental assessment and curriculum system. Their engineering teams are responsible for building SaaS solutions for educational organizations across the globe. Teams work on various projects, solving existing problems and enabling new business objectives. 

This role is for a Sr. BI Engineer who will play a key role in leveraging data to create value for both the organization and its customers. The BI Engineer will join the Data team, focusing initially on modernizing reports. Responsibilities include creating or migrating SQL queries to align with a new data model and building a pipeline to incrementally refresh data in Databricks, ensuring a report-ready dataset. Success in this role requires quickly developing an understanding of the data model, applying advanced SQL skills to adapt queries, and collaborating with the data engineering team to implement the pipeline. As the role evolves, the BI Engineer will design solutions that address the data needs of the business and engineering teams, supporting growth both domestically and internationally.

As a Senior BI Engineer, you will:

· Use SQL to extract data from Lakehouse databases and create reports and dashboards for SaaS customer-facing products;

· Perform data validation, verification, and analysis tasks to ensure data integrity and derive actionable insights;

· Collaborate with data experts and quality assurance partners to understand data issues and provide timely resolutions and insights;

· Develop and maintain SQL queries and scripts for reporting and data analysis;

· Monitor data quality and implement improvements to ensure efficient data operations and accurate reporting;

· Provide technical support for data-related issues, including troubleshooting and performance tuning;

· Ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.

Qualifications:

· 5+ years of hands-on experience creating complex SQL queries in data analysis or a similar role;
· Strong ability to decipher, write, and optimize SQL queries; proficiency in Python is a plus;

· Experience resolving common SQL issues to maintain data integrity;

· Demonstrated ability to learn data models quickly;

· Experience deploying ETL/ELT data pipelines; Databricks experience is preferred;

· Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL techniques;

· Proven experience working with large datasets and building aggregations and computations in SQL at scale;

· Proficiency with Git/Bitbucket for source control;

· Familiarity with AWS and GCP cloud services;

· Experience with Postgres and other relational database management systems (RDBMS);

· Experience conducting performance testing;

· Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills;

· Self-starter with keen attention to detail.
