Frontend Engineer - Typescript, React, NextJS Offline

Semaverse is a London-based, fully remote startup founded by two seasoned, hands-on professionals with decades of experience in product, cloud, data and AI.

Semaverse’s frontend is the face of our intelligent insights platform. Our products include an AI SaaS web app and a Chrome browser extension that enables users to extract, store, and explore semantic insights. We prioritise clean design, performance, and intuitive UX.
 

About the Role

We created a sophisticated prototype, now we are building our MVP. You will own the frontend development of our SaaS platform and browser extension. You’ll work closely with the CTO, CPO, and Backend Engineer to deliver a polished user experience that showcases our AI capabilities. Additionally, you will collaborate with our experienced and award winning UX partners to implement UI components they designed in Storybook.js.

Our technology stack is not set in stone. We are not dogmatic about our choices and we expect you to be pragmatic too.
 

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the SaaS frontend using Next.js, React and TypeScript
• Evolve and maintain the Chrome extension using React and TypeScript
• Integrating both with the backend API and the shared UI components
• Implement cross-channel authentication, user management, and payment solutions together with the backend engineer
• Optimise frontend performance and user experience
• Collaborate on observability to track user interactions and improve UX
• Support responsive UI development and accessibility best practices
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (finance, healthcare, etc.)

Must-Have

• Expertise in TypeScript and JavaScript (with testing)
• Experience with Next.js and React
• Proficiency in Docker for development
• Experience with authentication and user management
• Payment integration experience (e.g., Stripe, PayPal)
• Familiarity with observability (user behaviour tracking, performance monitoring)
• Building compliant solutions for regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare)
• Git version control

Nice-to-Have

• Familiarity with Zustand for state management
• NoSQL experience (e.g., MongoDB Atlas)
• AWS experience
• Experience with user behaviour observability tools (e.g., Sentry, PostHog)
• Basic knowledge of API design (for frontend-backend integration and API evolution)
• Interest or experience in AI/ML or Data Science
