Node.js Developer (Game Development Backend) to $2000
About the Position
We are looking for a skilled Full-Stack Developer to help us build and evolve web products that support game-related services and user-facing workflows. This is a remote, flexible, part-time role, starting at ~30 hours per week (with the option to scale up later if there is mutual interest).
You will work across Next.js + TypeScript on the frontend and backend, designing reliable APIs, integrating with databases, and improving performance and stability. Experience with DevOps practices is a strong plus, as it enables faster, safer deployments and better operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain full-stack features using Next.js + TypeScript (frontend and backend/API routes).
- Design and implement scalable APIs and services, including real-time or event-driven capabilities where applicable.
- Work with product, design, and engineering to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Integrate and operate data layers using PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis (schema design, query optimization, caching strategies).
- Ensure system consistency and enhance user experience through performance optimization and reliability improvements.
- Troubleshoot issues across the stack and resolve bugs and bottlenecks efficiently.
- Implement security and data protection practices (authentication, authorization, secure data handling).
- Write reusable, maintainable code and contribute to internal libraries/components.
- Maintain a high standard of engineering quality via testing, documentation, and code review practices.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience in full-stack development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Next.js and TypeScript in production environments.
- Proven experience building backend APIs/services (Node.js runtime, modern patterns, and best practices).
- Practical expertise with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis (required).
- Experience with performance optimization, debugging, and production issue resolution.
- Familiarity with real-time communication patterns (e.g., WebSockets) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setup, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly.
- Comfortable with documentation and quality practices (testing mindset; TDD is a plus).
- DevOps awareness (CI/CD, deployments, monitoring, cloud environments) is highly desirable.
What We Offer
- Remote, flexible, part-time collaboration starting at ~30 hours/week.
- Opportunity to grow the engagement over time (potential to move toward 40h+/week if desired).
- A collaborative environment with direct impact on product quality and delivery.
- Professional growth opportunities in game-related product development.
- Hourly compensation, based on experience and scope.
