Senior JS Game Developer / Game Lead (Phaser, HTML5) Offline

Atlantis World is seeking a talented Senior Game Developer / Game Lead.

Requirements

7+ years of experience in game / full-stack development

3-5+ years of experience specifically in JS games (Phaser or associated libraries like 3, Pixi etc, ChakraUI)

3+ years of experience leading technical teams & managing development cycles

Role

- Design robust software architecture- achieving high levels of stability, security & performance

- Craft clean, elegant & maintainable code

- Optimise performance for slower devices & mobile web

- Implement software engineering best practices & methodologies

- Solve bottlenecks with clean & structured async communication

- Spearhead Atlantis World v2, v3 development cycles & beyond in close collaboration with wider team vision & requirements

Nice to have

- Knowledge of DevOps practices for server, database & API improvements / maintenance

- Experience using Tiled, Postman, Base64 encoder, Aseprite

- Knowledge of UV mapping practices

- Comfortable writing technical documentation

- Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions

We are building a browser-based, mobile-friendly, fast & lightweight virtual world.

We hope to superpower co-creation, gatherings & connection for web3 communities with closer remote collaboration within value-aligned teams & Decentralised Autonomous Organisations as well as gatherings that are warm & fulfilling.

We seek to empower leaders that can mobilise a community around a given mission or set of values. The new economy is powerful. It means that creators can own their content, cultivating a platformless community whilst unlocking a more sustainable flow of value for the collective. On the contrary, fair ownership doesn’t exist today in web 2 social.

Enabling privacy & self-sovereignty of one’s identity, network & assets is very important to us.

In future, having became the go-to social app for close collaboration, connection & co-creation within web3 communties, teams & DAOs, we also hope to re visit a branded education / onboarding vertical. This should empower everyday people to learn about web3 through play whilst collecting rewards, building reputation & becoming immersed in value-aligned ecosystems.

After a successful round of alpha testing with 16k+ players, we’re fully focused on v2 development, taking the time to evaluate our approach, tech stack, architecture & reduce technical debt before removing / improving & adding features.

The clearest priority of v2 development is centred around improving core product UX, the most critical part of building a product users love and want to use every day, as well as performance.

Since there is a lot to build, doing so progressively in cycles and monitoring our progress with feedback from users will be key when it comes to building momentum and ensuring our growth, retention, other important metrics continue to scale up & to the right.

Volunteering

We love volunteering. Part of our team is living in Kyiv & actively supporting Ukraine — since Feb 24 ’22, we’ve helped fundraise $10M+ in donations, helping 400k+ Ukrainians; and even organised first-ever web3 hackathon in a bomb shelter ft. Vitalik Buterin in Kyiv!

Besides helping Ukraine, we’ve helped Pakistan and recently Turkey (raising $400k+ in donations and distributing to non-profits). We show our care in actions and products we’re building.
