Support Engineer (offline)

Our goal is to revolutionise shipping by creating a suite of comprehensive software solutions for the Maritime industry. Our journey begins now. Over the next couple of years, our teams and squads will build more than 30 products from the ground up. This includes everything from global vessel tracking to vessel performance analysis, crew optimisation and so much more. Our tech stack consists of React, React Native and Flutter applications communicating using GraphQL to microservice containers orchestrated by Kubernetes. The majority of our services is written in Golang with stream processing in Java, they use gRPC for communication, achieve high scalability thanks to Apache Kafka based event driven architecture, persist data to a mix of RDBS and No-SQL databases including PostgresDB, MongoDB, Cassandra, S3 and Elasticsearch. We follow CI/CD and agile methodologies to deploy into production multiple times per week.

Responsibilities
• Ensure reliable and stable platform operations
• Implement Service Delivery processes (using ITIL principles) including automation of Service Delivery tasks
• Change Management & Capacity Planning
• Build the Linux SysOps Technical Discipline
• Strong focus on ensuring that security best practice is implemented throughout the platform
• Work closely with DevOps squads to support infrastructure on production
• Support the IoT infrastructure for the platform across multiple environments
• Monitor platform service status (automated and pre-emptive by default)
• Working by on-call support/shifts option

Requirements (Must Have Experience)
• Support Linux application servers experience as part of a Linux Support team
• Proficiency in:
 Linux servers’ maintenance and troubleshooting
 Server hardware monitoring and troubleshooting
 Bash or Python system programming for Linux
 Use of Unix systems commands
 RDBMS and NoSQL database installation and maintenance
 Application server support
 Docker support
• Understanding of Linux boot process & Linux Network stack
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts
• Experience of working with Git

Nice to have
• IoT device deployment
• Ansibles
• ITSM and/or ITIL Certifications

Past experience
Demonstrated track record and proficiency in the points below:
• Delivering features autonomously with a high degree of team coordination
• Support Linux application servers on wide scale
• On-call support
• Deploying production code to production
• Collaborating with multiple agile squads
