Alcon is continuously advancing their medical devices and further enabling them with connectivity features and cloud based services. Still adoption of new generation solutions is happening gradually and in the field it is common to have a mix of legacy and new solutions within one setup.
The ultimate goal of the project is to develop a set of tools, services, libraries, etc. to enable integration of current/legacy devices into the modern cloud/on-prem infrastructure of Alcon digital services and ensure data interoperability, integrity and security.
This is already an ongoing project at Alcon recently started from high level requirements definition and technical solutioning. There is an arising need of ramping up a SW engineering team and start detailed design, implementation and V&V activities.
Therefore Alcon is looking forward to evaluate GL capabilities to effectively ramp up needed team and execute outstanding scope of work.

Requirements:

• Minimum of five years of experience in C# and WPF application development.

• Strong portfolio showcasing custom WPF widget design.

• Experience with multi-threading, multi-process architecture, and asynchronous programming.

• Proficient in network programming and understanding of network protocols.

• Solid understanding of the MVVM design pattern and its application in WPF development.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment.

• Strong communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design and develop custom WPF widgets and user controls with a focus on performance, scalability, and user experience.

Description of the project:

We are looking for a skilled Windows Presentation Foundation Developer to join our team and take ownership of a large legacy project. This role involves not only maintaining and supporting the existing system but also actively developing new features. The project does not have a fixed scope, and tasks will include both functionality improvements and support-related work.

Responsibilities:

• Write clean, high-quality, and high-performance code
• Develop and maintain existing software, including implementing new features and enhancements
• Fix bugs and perform code refactoring to improve system stability and performance
• Document code and maintain technical documentation
• Gradually take ownership of the codebase and contribute to system optimization
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, QA engineers, and PMs to define and refine project goals
• Actively participate in technical discussions and contribute ideas and solutions

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience in WPF development
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with .NET 8 and relevant libraries (Entity Framework), WebAPI (ASP.NET Core)
• Experience working with legacy codebases, Enterprise class solutions and ability to refactor them
• Knowledge of OOP, SOLID principles, and design patterns
• Ability to work on both feature development and support tasks
• Strong analytical skills and ability to dive deep into complex systems

Nice to have:

• Understanding of multi-threading and asynchronous programming
• Experience with Angular (2+ years) will be considered a strong advantage
