About the role

We are looking for a Performance & Reliability Architect who can define and practically implement the non-functional testing and performance engineering approach across the product landscape.

This is an architect-level, hands-on individual contributor role focused on shaping cross-product performance and reliability strategy while working closely with engineering, Product, Architecture, DevOps/SRE, and QA teams.

The role covers defining and executing performance strategy for critical end-to-end flows, endpoints, APIs, and production-like scenarios; aligning non-functional requirements; supporting SLA/SLO-related validation; establishing quality gates and baselines; and improving the performance framework, observability, dashboards, and reporting.

This is not a direct people-management role, but it does require strong technical leadership, broad system-level thinking, and the ability to guide the overall performance and reliability approach across teams and products.

• Establish and evolve a cross-company performance testing approach, including standards, practices, and frameworks that can be applied across multiple products.
• Identify bottlenecks across applications, APIs, databases, infrastructure, and integrations, and provide actionable optimization recommendations.
• Contribute to observability improvements, including dashboards, metrics, logs, reporting, and monitoring visibility.
• Work alongside performance testing engineers and other technical stakeholders, providing direction and architectural guidance while remaining hands-on where needed.
• Prepare clear reports on findings, risks, system limits, benchmark results, and recommended next steps to support production readiness and decision-making.
• Led resilience engineering initiatives by introducing chaos experiments in Kubernetes (OCI), validating system behavior under failure (latency injection, pod eviction, node outages), and integrating experiments into CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliability at scale.

Establish measurable productivity and AI-adoption baselines across all delivery teams, including clear KPIs, qualitative indicators, and tracking mechanisms.

Ensure delivery teams are fully equipped—methodology, tools, education, governance, playbooks—to operate a modern AI-driven SDLC that reflects (and exceeds) current industry practices.

Demonstrate consistent, tangible productivity growth tied to AI-augmented development patterns, improved workflows, tooling adoption, and broader SDLC enhancements.

Build trust and operational reliability around AI-enabled processes, ensuring teams know when and how to apply AI effectively, safely, and efficiently.

Business Layer (Growth / Strategic Evolution Areas)

Shape a holistic SPD-wide viewpoint on how to increase value delivered to clients in the post-AI era—connecting productivity gains, faster delivery, improved quality, and new solution capabilities.

Define monetizable opportunities enabled by AI-driven delivery: accelerators, reusable components, AI-enhanced services, low-code/no-code integrations, and advisory offerings.

Prepare SPD leadership and teams to evolve the business model to remain competitive as AI technologies progress—aligning service portfolio, roles, skillsets, pricing models, and engagement structures with the future demands of clients.

We’re looking for you if you have:

• 5+ years in engineering management, DevEx, delivery excellence, or SDLC leadership roles.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end SDLC (including product, architecture, QA, design, and support).
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, test-gen tools, etc).
• Solid understanding of AI fundamentals (LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, transformers) and desire to stay up-to-date.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing teams in a matrix organization.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and coaching abilities.
• Experience running structured rollouts, experiments, pilots, and transformation initiatives.
• KPI-driven, analytical mindset with ability to measure impact.

• Knowledge of AI-related security, compliance, and safe tooling usage standards.

   

Would be a plus:

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience in large-scale system design and distributed systems.

As a qualified expert, You will

• Serve as a force multiplier for development teams by creating golden paths that remove roadblocks and improve ideation and innovation.
• Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and internal stakeholders in an Agile environment.
• Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and perform code reviews for team members.
• Design and deliver on projects end-to-end with little to no guidance.
• Provide support to teams building and deploying AI applications by addressing common pain points in the MLDLC.
• Learn constantly and be passionate about discovering new tools, technologies, libraries, and frameworks (commercial and open source), that can be leveraged to improve PitchBook’s AI capabilities.

We’re looking for you if you have

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Machine Learning, or a similar field preferred (or equivalent practical experience).
• 5+ years of hands-on software development experience with Python (Java experience with strong Python proficiency also considered).
• 4+ years of experience designing and building distributed software systems and architectures.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience deploying and operating Machine Learning services in production.
• Experience supporting ML lifecycle operations including post-deployment monitoring and maintenance.
• Experience in cloud-native stack, with a practical understanding of containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• Demonstrated experience with SQL and NoSQL database design and implementation.
