What We're Looking For

Role Overview: You will take ownership of the search infrastructure for Ask Seeking Alpha — a financial intelligence platform powered by LLMs. Your main goal is to ensure our AI agents can find the exact financial data they need (articles, transcripts, news) in milliseconds. You will work on the Retrieval layer of our RAG architecture, combining traditional text search with modern vector search techniques.

Tech Stack: Elasticsearch (v8+), Python (FastAPI, Asyncio), OpenAI Embeddings, LangChain, LangSmith.

What You'll Do

• Search Engine Development: Design and implement Hybrid Search strategies. You will figure out how to best combine "keyword matching" (finding specific tickers like 'AAPL') with "semantic search" (finding concepts like 'revenue growth').
• Relevance Tuning: You are responsible for the quality of search results. You will build systems to measure and improve how well the search engine answers user queries (using tools like LangSmith).
• Vector Search & RAG: Manage the integration of OpenAI embeddings into Elasticsearch. You will solve challenges related to indexing long documents (e.g., earnings transcripts) so the AI retrieves only the most relevant parts.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize Elasticsearch queries and index settings to ensure low latency, even for complex queries with many filters.
• Python Backend: Develop and maintain the Python services that build queries and process results. We use FastAPI and Asyncio heavily.

Requirements

• Elasticsearch Expert: 5+ years of experience working with Search Engines in production. You understand how indices, analyzers, and mappings work "under the hood."
• Search Theory: You understand the difference between Lexical Search (keywords) and Vector Search (meaning), and know when to use which.
• Python Proficiency: Strong experience with Python 3.10+. You are comfortable writing asynchronous code (async/await) and building APIs.
• Data Engineering: Experience designing data schemas for search (how to structure JSON documents for efficient retrieval).

Nice to Have

• Experience building RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines.
• Familiarity with LangChain or similar LLM frameworks.
• Experience with Evaluation tools (like LangSmith) to test search quality automatically.
• Background in Finance (understanding tickers, earnings calls, etc.).

What We're Looking For

Role Overview: We are developing Ask Seeking Alpha — a high-load financial analysis system based on Large Language Models. The architecture is built on complex multi-agent orchestration using LangGraph, FastAPI, and Elasticsearch.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer specialized in Generative AI to design agent workflows, optimize interactions with models (OpenAI, AWS Bedrock), and ensure the reliability of non-deterministic systems in production.

Tech Stack: Python (Asyncio), FastAPI, LangChain, LangGraph, Pydantic, Elasticsearch, AWS Bedrock / OpenAI API, LangSmith.

What You'll Do

• Agent Architecture: Design and implement complex agent orchestration logic using LangGraph. You will define state management, conditional routing, and error handling within the agent graph.
• Tool Engineering: Build and optimize the tool layer (function calling) that allows LLMs to interact with internal financial APIs and databases accurately.
• Performance Optimization:

-Reduce end-to-end latency through asynchronous processing and streaming (SSE).

-Implement semantic caching strategies to minimize API costs and response time.

-Optimize token usage without sacrificing answer quality.

• Observability & Evaluation: Implement automated evaluation pipelines using LangSmith. You will be responsible for setting up regression testing for prompts and agents to measure quality (correctness, faithfulness) before deployment.
• Advanced RAG: Refine retrieval strategies. Work on hybrid search implementation (Keyword + Vector), re-ranking, and query expansion to feed the most relevant context to the model.

Requirements

• Python Expert: Strong proficiency in modern Python. Deep understanding of asynchronous programming (asyncio) patterns is mandatory, as our entire I/O pipeline (Network, DB, LLM) is non-blocking. Experience with FastAPI and Pydantic (v2).
• Agentic Frameworks: Production experience with LangChain. Hands-on experience or deep conceptual understanding of LangGraph (or similar state-machine-based agent frameworks).

Deep LLM Expertise (What we mean by "Deep"):

• Non-determinism Management: Strategies for handling LLM hallucinations and ensuring reliable outputs (e.g., self-correction loops, specific prompting techniques like CoT/ReAct).
• Structured Outputs: Experience forcing LLMs to adhere to strict schemas (Pydantic/JSON mode) for reliable downstream processing.
• Context Optimization: Advanced strategies for managing limited context windows (summarization chains, sliding windows, selective context injection) beyond simple truncation.
• Inference Economics: Understanding the trade-offs between model size, latency, and cost (e.g., when to route to GPT-4 vs. a smaller/faster model).

Nice to Have

• Experience with Elasticsearch (DSL queries, analyzers).
• Knowledge of vector databases and embedding models.
• Background in FinTech or familiarity with financial data structures.

If these things describe you, and if you’re great at SQL and have experience analyzing website data, you’re someone we want to talk to.

We’re looking for a Senior Data Analyst with experience analyzing website data. Our data analyst team analyzes everything on our website, not only for their immediate use but also for how they connect to high-level company KPIs. Our Analysts analyze raw data, not only pre-aggregated data, to extract just the right information and diagnose what is happening on our site.

The role requires understanding web development and how data is gathered, analysis of site usage and a/b tests, data visualization, and how different kinds of data can be presented most clearly, and business KPIs and how they are measured.

But more than that, we’re looking for experienced analysts who can bring us new ideas about how to analyze and extract insights from website data. Our ideal candidates have measured KPIs that we haven’t measured or used new ways to explain user retention, or analyzed features of users' data that we haven’t analyzed.

What You'll Do

• Analyzing the behavior of users on our site and apps:

-Build and maintain dashboards that visualize the usage of single or multiple features and how that usage drives company KPIs.

-Answer questions about site usage or user behavior based on deeper analyses.

• Analyze and track high-level KPIs such as conversion, retention, churn, recurring revenue, engagement, cross-device usage, e-mail and notification usage, and more.
• Communicate with business stakeholders on analysis results, how they relate to business, and what business suggestions result from the analysis.
• Run the whole data flow for site and app features, from defining KPIs, specifying data collection for development team implementation, and building and maintaining iterative versions of dashboards with both low-level and high-level views of collected data.
• Split tests of product features:

-Design a test with clear success criteria

-Monitor test integrity

-Analyze results and give recommendations

-Use segmentation and clear cohort analysis to validate significant conclusions

-Conduct exploratory analysis to identify trends and opportunities

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years in a B2C website-related Data Analyst position
• Strong SQL skills with experience writing complex and efficient analytical queries
• Demonstrated experience with working in English directly with business stakeholders, understanding their needs, and explaining results
• Understanding of website development and operations and how they connect to data gathered.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Looker/Tableau/PowerBI, etc.)
• Experience with report writing and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling/mapping, methodology development, and data modeling

Seeking Alpha is looking for a Senior Data Engineer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure necessary for analyzing large data sets. This individual should be an expert in data management, ETL (extract, transform, load) processes, and data warehousing and should have experience working with various big data technologies, such as Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases. In addition to technical skills, a Senior Data Engineer should have strong communication and collaboration abilities, as they will be working closely with other members of the data and analytics team, as well as other stakeholders, to identify and prioritize data engineering projects and to ensure that the data infrastructure is aligned with the overall business goals and objectives.

• 2+ years of proven experience developing large-scale software using an object-oriented or functional language.
• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, focusing on building and maintaining data pipelines and data warehouses
• Strong experience with Spark, Scala, and Python, including the ability to write high-performance, maintainable code
• Experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, Athena, Kinesis/Firehose Lambda and EMR
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies, such as columnar storage, data lakes, and SQL
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration and scheduling using tools such as Airflow
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• High-level English - a must. 
• A team player with excellent collaboration skills.

Nice to Have:

• Expertise with Vertica or Redshift, including experience with query optimization and performance tuning
• Experience with machine learning and/or data science projects
• Knowledge of data governance and security best practices, including data privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
• Knowledge of Spark internals (tuning, query optimization)
