We are building a real-time AI-powered desktop assistant that runs on-screen during sales calls — a live mission control layer that floats seamlessly above Zoom, Google Meet, and similar tools. The product already exists and is actively deployed in enterprise environments.

While our current shell utilizes Electron and React, this is not a standard frontend or web-wrapper role. We need a systems-level Windows Desktop Engineer who deeply understands the Windows OS, knows how to write low-level native modules, and can make software feel truly native, responsive, and invisible in terms of resource usage. Windows is our primary platform and the core focus of this role, with macOS experience considered a strong bonus.

You will own the native desktop layer end-to-end: system audio capture, Win32 windowing architecture, process management, native module development, enterprise deployment constraints, and OS-level integrations.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the native architecture of our desktop application, primarily focusing on Windows OS integrations.
• Build, maintain, and optimize native modules (using C++, C#, or Rust) that interface with our Electron shell via N-API, pushing beyond what the web layer can provide.
• Implement and stabilize real-time audio capture directly from the OS — handling system audio, microphone streams, and process detection for meeting tools (Zoom, Teams, Meet) using WASAPI/DirectSound.
• Design robust window management: always-on-top overlay behaviors, transparent windows, multi-display support, and smooth lifecycle management using Windows APIs.
• Solve complex enterprise deployment challenges: MSI/MSIX packaging, MDM compatibility, Active Directory/Group Policy constraints, certificate signing, and IT-managed device environments.
• Strictly manage and optimize CPU, RAM, and battery footprint so the app runs invisibly alongside resource-heavy video conferencing tools.
• Bonus: Contribute to and maintain the macOS equivalent of these systems (CoreAudio, Swift, Objective-C) if you have the relevant experience.

Requirements

• Extensive commercial experience building, optimizing, and shipping production-grade Windows desktop applications.
• Deep proficiency in at least one systems-level language used for Windows native development: C++, C#, or Rust.
• Strong understanding of Windows OS internals: Win32 APIs, process management, memory allocation, permissions, and accessibility APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Windows audio subsystems (WASAPI) and real-time media streaming.
• Proven experience deploying desktop software in strict enterprise environments (familiarity with code signing, IT policies, and MDM solutions).
• Experience bridging native code with Electron (main/renderer/preload architecture, IPC design, Node-API/N-API).
• High ownership, strong engineering judgment, and a track record of solving hard, low-level desktop engineering problems.

Nice to Have

• Strong macOS desktop development experience (CoreAudio, Swift, Apple code signing).
• Experience with Tauri or willingness to evaluate it for future architectural migrations.
• Knowledge of Zoom SDK, Microsoft Teams integrations, or similar meeting platform APIs.
• Background in audio signal processing or real-time audio streaming.
• Experience with security-conscious engineering: secure IPC, sandboxing, and memory safety.

Tech Stack Context

• Desktop: Windows Native Modules (C++/C#/Rust) + Electron + React.
• Backend (Separate Team): Python, FastAPI, Pinecone, GCP. The desktop app communicates with the backend in real-time via WebSockets/streaming. You will not be responsible for backend work.

You will own the desktop layer end-to-end: windowing architecture, IPC, audio capture, process management, native module development, enterprise deployment constraints, and OS-level integrations.

What You Will Do

• Own and evolve the existing Electron-based desktop application across Windows (primary) and macOS
• Build and maintain native modules (N-API) in Swift, Objective-C, C++, or Rust that extend Electron beyond what the web layer can provide
• Implement and optimize real-time audio capture during calls — handling system audio, microphone streams, and process detection for meeting tools like Zoom and Google Meet
• Design window management: always-on-top overlay behavior, transparent windows, multi-display support, and smooth lifecycle management
• Architect IPC boundaries between main process, renderer, and native modules to keep the app performant and stable during live video calls
• Solve enterprise deployment challenges: MDM compatibility, IT policy constraints, certificate signing, and managed device environments
• Drive performance, low CPU and RAM footprint, and stability — the app must run invisibly alongside resource-heavy tools
• Contribute to product experience and desktop UX, ensuring interactions feel native on both operating systems
• Own auto-update mechanisms, installers, and distribution pipelines across platforms

What We Are Looking For

• Strong experience building and shipping production desktop applications on Windows and/or macOS
• Deep understanding of Electron internals: main/renderer/preload architecture, IPC design, process lifecycle, and performance limits
• Hands-on experience writing native modules using Node-API (N-API), and fluency in at least one native language: Swift, Objective-C, C++, or Rust
• Solid understanding of OS-level concerns: permissions, audio APIs (CoreAudio on macOS, WASAPI/DirectSound on Windows), accessibility APIs, process management
• Experience deploying desktop software in enterprise environments — familiarity with MDM solutions, code signing, certificate policies, and IT-managed machines
• Ability to reason about memory, CPU, and resource usage and proactively optimize for low-footprint operation
• Strong engineering judgment, high ownership, and a track record of solving hard desktop engineering problems
• React experience is a plus — the UI layer uses React, but the systems work is the core priority
• Familiarity with enterprise Windows environments (Active Directory, Group Policy, IT management tooling) is a significant advantage

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Full-Stack Developer to join us on a contract basis for an exciting, heavily funded project with one of our core partners. You will be helping build a production-grade, multi-tenant SaaS platform for an Indigenous-owned organization serving First Nations groups across Canada. The platform provides partner management, document storage, compliance reporting, and AI-generated insights—all white-labelled for each Nation.

This project is unique due to its AI-integrated development workflow. The AI toolchain handles 60–80% of routine implementation. We expect you to be highly comfortable working with AI-generated code as a starting point. Your role is to act as an architect and reviewer: AI generates the boilerplate, and you write the complex logic, handle edge cases, refine, test, and ship.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain full-stack features using React (TypeScript), Tailwind CSS, and Supabase Edge Functions (Deno).
• Architect and manage multi-tenant PostgreSQL 15+ databases using Row-Level Security (RLS) to ensure strict data isolation.
• Manage secure authentication flows using Supabase Auth + MFA (PKCE flow) and per-tenant bucket isolation in Supabase Storage.
• Work alongside autonomous AI agents (e.g., Claude Code Max) that generate CI/CD pipelines, database migrations, and Edge Functions. You will review, refine, and integrate their output.
• Ensure code quality by conducting thorough human code reviews for every Pull Request.

• Maintain and oversee CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions (Lint → staging → smoke tests → prod → automated DB migrations).

• Extensive, hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, Tailwind CSS, and Deno.
• Deep proficiency in PostgreSQL and the Supabase ecosystem (Auth, Edge Functions, Storage, RLS).

Engagement Terms & We Offer:

• Format: Hourly contract, 100% remote. Our async-first workflow supports distributed teams across any timezone.
